    Thats funny, gotham has some of the best track design going which really test you. From long windy tracks, medium fast tracks, short easy tracks, it has the lot. And as for the kudos being a gimmick well it`s not in single player as it opens up cars and allows you to try for higher medals and is a neat way of doing it as it rewards you for perfect laps, not hitting the barriers, slide combos which in turn allows you to get the higher medals. You actually do have to put abit of effort in for the medals this time around. And there are plenty of races against opposition aswell where you don`t have to worry about kudos. As for online yes it is abit of a gimmick and doesn`t really do anything. Your comments sound like they come from a person who has played it for all of 5 minutes. If you just want out and out racing go online this is where the game really shines.

        To be honest, I never did an awful lot - I was far more interested in the scoreboards, which obviously still work just as well.

          I still play it. Still the best online racer ever imo.

              If its so easy, I wouldn't mind a bit of help. The later missions are an absolute viscious test of control, and the best online stage times show theres a good couple of seconds I should be able to take out of them.

              Sure, getting to the end of an Arcade route is pretty simple if you don't dial up the difficulty level, but that is just the start of the game.

                Out Run 2 is now a part of my permanent collection. Halo and Panzer Dragoon also exist in this category.

                For me it's far and away the best racer on Xbox, and I know I'll be playing it for years to come.

                  Back to the magazine itself, just picked up the latest issue. Again an enjoyable read but the one thing about games tm that hacks me off, every month just about is....the cover game.

                  When you put something on the cover I'm expecting an extended preview or extra info yet every time it's just like all the other (laarger) previews. Bit pedantic maybe but I just find it disappointing.

                  Good stuff otherwise though...

                    Erm.....Didn't this issue have a huge article on the whole GTA series?

                      I'll give you that one but you know what I mean...

                        Your complaint is void in this instance though as the cover is backed up by a four-page San Andreas preview a one page GTA GBA preview and an eight-page feature.

                        Wasn't really worth raising the point, was it?

                          Is there an echo in here...?

                          I think it was perfectly valid of me to raise the point, it's called an opinion. Go check previous issues for examples.

                          Like I said though, it's hardly a world changing grievance, just something that disappoints me usually. Here's hoping the games tm lads (and lasses maybe) will continue in the same vein as this months.

                              You sure you'll playing the same game? Not playing Playstation Generic Racer 2 by accident?

                              * lack of framerate
                              Looks smooth and nice.

                              * relies too heavily on an over-rated, and over used gimmick i.e. kudos
                              Er apart from the Cone Challenges none of the stages reallly use Kudos, but even the Cone Challenges are a breath of fresh air compared to some other racing games (GT3 cough...)

                              * average track design.
                              Er Average? Has more tracks then a certain PS2 game and the tracks are based on real life roads and racing around Edinburgh and Yokohama I can recognise every road I race around. The tracks vary so much from high speed track to tight twistry tracks to tracks that that have bits of both. Track design is wonderful.

                              * and lots more which I cant be bothered typing
                              Can't think of more likely.

                              I also really detest the kudos system. I really don't see the need for it in a racing game. A racing game isn't about gaining points from style, its about winning.
                              Er the game is mainly about winning, maybe if you play it. The only stage that uses kudos is the cone challenge but just racing through the cones smoothly and not crashing is enough to get you past the stage.

                              The problem is that Bizarre take the game seriously - its not meant to be an arcade racer. Just as well I suppose since 60fps seems impossible for that series.
                              Er 30 fps on a TV means a nice smooth image, 60 fps does look a little rough at times. ^_^;

                                That is possibly the weirdest statement I have ever read on a message board.
