This reminds me of something I observed at the local game while buying Gradius V not too long ago.

It was a mother and daughter buying Star Wars: Battlefront

"Oh, isn't that the game where you can pretend to be jedi and stuff?"

You are employed to provide a service. You work in a service industry. I personally am fed up with people in your position giving me their univited opinions. If I want it I will ask for it.
Be professional and pander to the customers requirements. Rise above the 'casual gamer' and mock them behind their backs if you feel you don't agree with their own opinions but never ever let them affect you.

ha, i've worked full time in a gamestore for 19 months and expected nothing less than the public to be brain-dead ****tards. hello? dreamcast dying? you should have expected the worst from the off. you want a bad day? you try telling over 100 customers 'october 29th', explain to them the difference between ps2 and pstwo, get them to understand why the xbox doesn't need a memory card, argue with a guy who bought an xbox to play resident evil zero and finally, answering questions from annotying bratty schoolkids who only come in to bother and ask retarded questions EVERY DAY without buying anything. ever.

Today was my first day at Burnley Gamestation.

Within 30 minutes (no ****!) I was having an argument with a load of lads about how Pro Evo isn't **** compared to Fifa. I nearly walked out there and then, after 30mins. "Yeah! but Fifa has real names! none of that michael owens crap!".

Yeah.

An hour later I put the Final Fantasy VII soundtrack on only to hear chavs mutter "What the ****s this music!? it'z doin' me 'ed innnnn!". GOOD! THAT'S WHAT I WANT!! IT'S GOING ON TOMORROW AS WELL! ALL 4 CDs AGAIN! HELL, TOMORROW I'LL HAVE THE RANDOM BATTLE MUSIC ON LOOP ALL DAY LONG!!

Then I notice that the store only has 2 copies of Gradius in and isn't even on display. I had to proper do my job and go and dig it out and place both copies at an appropriate head height.

Luckily towards the end of the day I had a decent conversation with a customer about shooters after he came in to buy 1945 I+II.

It has it's downs - it has it's ups I suppose.

There are 4 people in my corridor who hate videogames, and when I try and explain to them the glories of games like Katamri Damashii, they look at me as if I am mad, one even said he would rather drink his "own piss" than play "such rubbish"

But, all 4 of these heathens who hate gaming, all love Pro Evo, and own PS2's just to play it. And thats all they ever play, and probably ever will play.

Even then, they would regularly have a go at the people who made it, saying "can you believe some wanker wasted years of his life locked in an office making this?"
After playing they of course go out clubbing, get drunk and then come back to the hall only to vomit all over the walls. (feels like Im living in a biohazard game sometimes)

I work at the gamestation inside Cross Gates Blockbuster. The only import stores we have are CEX and City Cyber Anime. They're both overpriced and understocked.
