Remind me why i bought a PSP?

I've had my PSP since the beginning of January and loved it. The screen is of incredible quality, the graphics are stunning and the machine itself is a technical marvel imho. I bought Lumines and Ridge, later i had Vamp Chronicle and Wipeout. But in the last couple of months it's just sat there looking very pretty.

There was hardly anything of credit shown during E3 and i'm just feeling a tad disheartened with it. It also seems like i'm not the only one as there are PSP's cropping up in the trading forum on a daily basis now.

I have a DS too and there seems to be lots of great stuff coming in the next 4-5 months. I don't want this to turn into a DS Vs PSP debate, i just want some reassurance's that it's worth sticking with.

Sony consoles often have a slow start, a couple of stellar titles then months of nothing, before long things always pick up though so dont be too worried. Besides, Lumines is almost endless fun, even though each go now lasts over an hour..

Take a look around. The are a lot of good existing/upcoming games including:

      Intelligent License
      Sengoku Blade 2
      Star Soldier

      ...to name a few.

I had to choose between the DS & PSP couple of weeks ago and plumped for DS purely for current and games due in next few months, apart from the couple of shmups, everything else good (including the shmups ?) seems ages away, don't think your alone in you opinion by the way.
Sure the PSP will come good so to speak but you just have to be patient.

Is Star Soldier a port of the GC game? Which iirc wasn't that great.

Yeah there isn't much on the horizon. I'm hoping Tales of Eternia will get a US release especially seeing as the translation is already done.

Isnt there a Biohazard game planned for the PSP? Also, GT Portable is another on my list. I was disappointed that MGS was card-game based, as otherwise Id of got that.

Sony was sort of screwed at E3. MS HAD to show off the 360 as it is coming out this year, and E3 is to show off your goods for the next year. Nintendo knows this so showed off their goods for the next year on GC, GBA and DS. They showed a teaser of the Revolution so that people know it is coming next year. Sony however were stuck. Concentrate on this years goods on PS2 and PSP or compete with MS by showing off some PS3 stuff. Obviously they plumped for the latter and although they took the shine off of MS for Next Gen, they haven't done themselves any favours on the current handheld gen IMO.

Surprised that none of you mentioned Coded Arms, which is just around the corner for a 28th June release. I can't wait.

Whilst there's nothing notable coming out soon that takes my interest I have more than enough titles to keep me going for at least 6 months. Hopefully by that time there'll be some major titles on the horizon.

                      Mad Gear,

If you are interested in Golf then Minna No Golf (Hot Shot's Golf) is a very good title that is worth anybodys time. Mercury is perhaps another game that perfectly sits next to Lumines as the best puzzle games and makes very good use of the 'nub'.

I am just giving you some games to suggest buying but in the meantime, I do not thing there is much in the distance, but like the PS2, it took time to build a big collection/library.

Be patient and await for the next wave of PSP titles coming out in the near future.

                        God I hope so.

Until then I'll be hanging on for Infected (which is hopefully due the end of this year)

clearly, no-one here is aware of the psp's recently announced killer app...

Sold my PSP and bought another DS, due to the lack of titles due for the PSP in the near future while the DS seems to have plenty to look forward to.
I shall probably consider buying another PSP when it has some more stuff ready for release worth getting, which will probably be around Xmas.

I'm in the same position with the PSP, seems like I also have the same selection of games as you Mad Gear. I don't think anyone could argue that the PSP was poorly supported at this years E3, hell even the GBA Micro gained more attention and that's just another iteration of an aged handheld.

There's only maybe a few games that have been announced officially of late that have piqued my interest such as Devil May Cry & Taiko No tatsujin(if only to see how Namco port it over), the DS by comparison has a lot of titles that look like potential purchases.

Hopefully TGS will see the PSP recieve some killer apps e.g. Winning 11/Pro Evo or a new Gradius (I'm surprised that there aren't many side scrollling shooters being made for the PSP) because I can only play Lumines so many times before the soundtrack loses it's appeal.
