Winning Eleven is on the also btw, so if thats a reason to buy a PSP and you already own a DS. Then dont bother....

As a neutral who owns neither, the PSP's support is almost as bad as the Gizmondo. Theres no games that look like there worth the UMD their printed on. It seems everyone wants to develop for the DS right now.

Oh and that arguement about the PS2 having a slow start, you can't use that as an excuse. Its just the fact that they've hit a brand new market and have no decent games to look forward to. Where as the NDS is the power house of the market.... Its definatly an upward hill that the PSP has to climb.

Because you are a geek who has to have everything ASAP. Isn't it obvious?

I have nothing on my wanted list for PSP apart from Virtua Tennis and Madden NFL 2006 (Imagine watching american football on TV and play it on PSP as well )

Do not get me wrong, but the only PSP games that I would suggest you to have in your collection after reading some reviews and videos on the net. are the following:

              Lumines
              WipEout Pure
              Ridge Racers
              Hot Shots Golf

              With honourable mentions to:

              Metal Gear Ac!d
              Mercury
              Darkstalkers Chronicle

Again, it depend on what you are looking for within the PSP. I think the 'movies on the go' function does it for me, as the quality of the movies on the screen is very good and the ability to play ROMs (maybe?) is too good to be true.

Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

If some decent emu's were to work on the 1.5 firmware, I think that would give reason to seriously consider the PSP

                  Is it?

I'll probably pick one up when Winning Eleven makes an appearance but tbh there's nothing else interesting me.

Theres a few games I'm after on it, but they're pretty much all "wait for price reduction" games. So I'll DS for now and catch up on PSP when some of it's older games are in the bargain bucket.

The PSP is a **** kicking handheld, and if i were you, i would definately hang-on to it. The system has barely been out for 7 month, the type of games getting released on the PSP take more than 3 day's to create, unlike some games i.e. Meteos (prototype of).

Look at the games that are out for the system just now, essential titles like Ridge Racer (and in my opinion worth the ?140 i paid for the system), the innovative Lumines, and the sublime Wipeout Pure, as well as other titles such as Untold Legends: Brotherhood of the Blade, Hot Shots Golf, and Archer Maclean's Mercury, all above average titles.

Also, this year we'll see games like Bounty Hounds, Burnout Legends, Coded Arms, The Con, Crisis Core - Final Fantasy VII, Death Jr, Frantix, Infected, Pursuit Force, Sengoku Cannon, Star Soldier and Virtua Tennis. All with the possibility of Wi-Fi/Online gameplay.

It's also rumoured that a new version of Tempest and Jet Set Radio will make it on to the system next year. Not to mention some f**king ace emulation.

There are more games than you think coming out for the system this year, the next generation of consoles has over shadowed this.

It's up to you, sell it if you want, but you'll be back!!

Yep sexy kit, but i cant belive how poorly supported it is, even a few quickie PS2 ports would do for now.
I actually think developers were slow to make commitments to the PSP due to the very hazy release date, price and battery life, If sony had gotten over to the people that this great peice of kit would be available in December for 120 quid and a 4 hour battery life, then we would have seen a lot more games than we have now.

but then again, what do i know?

I've been wondering the same thing. Got my DS on Jap release and love it to bits but I got a PSP too, and to be honest, apart from battering Ridge Racers, it's pretty much just sat on the shelf recently. It just hasn't inspired me to pick it up and play with it. I'm not going to get rid, partly because I know some decent games will turn up sooner or later (a couple of shmups are coming and surely, as someone said, it must be perfect for horizontal shooters- imagine portable Progear [drools]) but mainly because I'm a geek and a horder. Ladies.

Thanks for the replies peeps. I think i'll go with Hotshots Golf as i've got 1-4 and love them to bits. I just want some decent exclusive action type games. Puzzle games are OK to pass the time but i'd rather have something with a tad more meat to it.

I won't get rid of it as it's a Jap firmware V1.0 and when i get a moment i shall definately be checking out the Rod Hull and Emu scene.

I noticed somebody?s comment about the PSP having a slow start and i do not agree.

Nintendo had a slow start but now we seam to be getting a steady mix of old and new games of a high quality in Japan. Remember the PSP was only a couple of weeks after the DS in Japan and if anything the PSP line up is getting worse. After the games that promised so much are getting released and have average gameplay experiences with great graphics i am starting to wonder if Sony is out of its depth.

Sony NEEDS third party developers in order to survive they could not do so on first/second party stuff IMO. They can't force developers to develop for the PSP and if they choose to approach with caution rather than releasing the big name titles then this is going to hurt the PSP.

I didn?t want to have to compare but over the next 6 months if you look at what the DS is offering and what the PSP is offering you will see that developers are cautious about the DS but they still have some AAA games to come and a lot of the buzz games are coming from Nintendo.

As of yet the PSP has only maybe 1 or 2 games that the gameplay supersedes the graphics and both those games could have been done on any console.

The PSP has potential but if they insist on turning it into a machine for the graphics whore then it will surely fail.

A slow start is no excuse (since the DS and PSP were released about the same time) E3 is about showing things that are coming over the next few months to a year and the PSP might aswell have had nothing to show (with the exception of Infected).

They probably do have some stuff in development, but just haven't shown it just yet, for whatever reason.
But the psp is definitely a great looking piece of machinery, and very desirable, but the lack of games is a killer,
I also wonder if Sony don't soon pull their finger out a bit more and get some decent releases out, if this might tarnish the psp's reputation irreparably,
perhaps Sony just have to learn that to overturn the market leader i.e. Nintendo, takes effort rather than complacency, they could consult Microsoft about this, as they are seem to be aware of this fact.
