I loved all of the games too. I also think Zero was great and people knock it whereas I can't see why so much. 4 is probably my favourite since it took a new direction.
Talking about Code Veronica, I first played that way back on the DC and I was amazed at the time how great it looked and how spooky the atmosphere was. I felt sorry for poor old Steve...

Zero looked amazing at the time and still looks good today, even if it did cheat by using rendered backgrounds. Unfortunately it has that same clunky old gameplay straight outta 1996. It was nice that you could leave items and they'd still be there when you came back, but all that meant was I spent more time ferrying things back and forth *just in case* than actually getting on with it. I got to what I presume was the last boss but the truck-like character steering proved too much for me at that point and I sacked it.

blimey, I never finished Zero either. Didn't get stuck, I didn't get far enough to get stuck. I think I made it to the second disc, but going into it straight after Remake proved a bit much and I just got tired and moved onto something else. Going to have to fire it up again soon. Just done Resi: DS recently so I think its time to do Zero.

I'm playing through the remake again on the Wii, one of my favourite games of all time.
Will almost certainly get flamed for this, but I can't think of a better looking game on the 'cube than this.
The combination of high resolution rendered backgrounds, with animated layers, and high poly character models just look amazing. Not to mention the rich variety in sound effects.
The prospect of a HD version of a Resi evil game in this manner (high quality rendered locations, with animated layers) would make me stupidly giddy with excitement. But hell would freeze over before that happens, I reckon.

This game could possibly be my favourite game of all time, I enjoyed it so much when I was playing it, always looking forward to see what’s next. It was so good that as soon as I finished it I went back to the start straight away and actually started playing it again, and I have never done that with any game! I think it’s the cinematic quality, pacing and atmosphere that make it (in my opinion) one of the best games ever made

I loved Zero. If I remember rightly it came out the same weekend as the anime convention I attend and I spent the whole weekend wishing I'd taken my Cube to the bloody thing as I really wanted to play it
Got home at 7pm on the Sunday night after the con and despite being completely knackered (little to no sleep for 3 days) I stayed up until something like 3am Monday playing it. I'm sure it would have been longer but I must have dozed off as I remember kicking myself awake with the pad in my hand and Billy stood aiming his gun at a wall
Great memories. Can't wait for RE4: Wii over here. Only a couple of weeks. The Nintendo countdown clock we've got running at work is for Mario Party 8 but I hope they change it for Resi.

I loved Zero too, I think it's arguably the best in the series and certainly right up there. The leech zombies were probably the scariest and most horrible in the series, and having 2 characters to protect made things worse in many ways. The music for the leech zombies made you panic too, they fed into each other.
Is there a link for Zero? I've struggled to find anything with search...
As for REmake, I too loved the Neptune bit, the graphics looked amazing, very reminiscent of a certain film, it almost deserved its own game!

I wasnt a big fan of Zero, Its not that it was a bad game becuase in many respects its an excellent one but I found that the bosses were actualy impossibley hard if you hadnt been saving enough ammo and running past some enemies, which is just rubbish really as i never had that problem in other Resident Evil games.
That just destroyed the experience for me really.

A mighty topic bump occured today it seems.
I quite liked Zero myself, the actual areas were great, and it had a nice atmosphere. The biggest problem with it was that it was so experimental, so you have to endure the game's crippling flaws. Namely the broken partner system, the inventory system that had you constantly running back-and-forth transporting items... I can understand why it's not really very loved. I love 'old-style' Resi enough that I was able to endure the faults.
Resi REmake on the other hand is the pinnicle of the survival horror genre. Resi 4 was great on it's own merits, but REmake trumps it as a horror title. Fantastic atmosphere.
