Good point about the LCD mode in games like Kameo though, I felt it too dark before - bet that's why!
Dude, can you not choose Auto Config from the Screen menu and it stretches it out? I dont fancy playing with a border all the way round the screen...

It's a bit of a pain, you can do that with the LG VGA set to PC mode, but in DTV mode it annoyingly doesn't allow it. Madness.

I'm using the VGA on my Panny PV500 plasma and had noticed the washed out colours on the dash, games look fine though, I've been fiddling with it for days trying to get the dash looking more vibrant but I guess that's just how it should be??

It's all quite a mess on the 360 to be honest, as it's clearly tailored for PC monitors, with HDTV resolutions like 1360x768 tacked on. It's much less elegant than the simple Dreamcast setup.

I'm half tempted to ditch it and go back to the Component. That just 'worked', without having to mess around with screen positions, screen sizes and worrying about washed colours.

I've not tried the component....scared to, as I only have one input on my plasma and that's used by the DVD player, if I try the 360 and prefer it, I'm gonna end up having to swap them all the time or buy a component switcher!

Just tried my component lead and yes, I think it does look better than VGA..... VGA probably marginally sharper, but the colours are better and the blacks are blacker on the component input....

Hmm, I'm not sure what to do then. I'll wait til they are freely available in shops and buy one from Game and take it back if not happy with it, you can still do the 10 day return on accessories cant you?

I've packed up the VGA cable and gone back to Component.

I'm just having too many headaches here. Yoday I managed to get rid of the boarders... but now it chronically overscans in DTV mode. It works in PC mode, but it looks nasty. And I can't get the image back to how it was =/

                  **** it.

Sounds good. I'm actually glad it's not the ultimate connection as I don't want to have to spend more money and start messing about with VGA switchboxes. Component it is.

I'm the other way about. The shadowing in component is irritating me to the extent that I'll be prepared to live with a loss of colour vibrancy, though it's going to mean hunting VGA switchboxes down at a competitive price (i.e 4-way sub ?40).

I must be wierd. Colours being too vibrant irritates the Hell out of me, so I've been happy with the VGA cable since the day I got it. I had four days through the component lead, switched to the VGA cable and haven't had any bother.

It's all down to user preference at the end of the day. The shadowing doesn't bother me, but the overscanning I seem to suffer over VGA irritates the hell out of me. I was satisified with the Component image before, so going back isn't that big a deal. Wierd it only occurs in DTV mode though.

Consolation is that the 360 VGA mode isn't up to the quality displayed by the Dreamcast anyway, which is what I was hoping for.

Personally, I think that they both look fantastic. Although the in-car view in PGR3 was notably improved through VGA, since you could actually see the inside of your car.

I agree. Both have their own pros and cons, and if I could sort out the overscanning issue, I'd go back to VGA.

Urgh, if they'd just release a DVI or HDMI cable, we'd have none of this problem.

They both have drawbacks, either no echoing (VGA) or no colour loss (component) - but they also both offer something over the other. The small problems are worth compensating for when you consider the improvement in resolution.
