      "ftw"

I absolutely loathe reading people affix "ftw" to the end of their sentences if I ever decide to dabble in an online game

I don't really like the word 'Fanboy' particually, and i also find nothing more boring than constant talk about HD and 60fps.

Amen to that fanboys the one thing I hate about gaming. Also like others have said I hate all the 'i33t' elitist talk.

When someone decides a game is gimmicky because its not based around some aspect of reality.

I dislike the way it's used as both a positive and negative adjective. I hear people calling themselves fanboys like it's a good thing as much as I hear it used as a derogatory term.

People should make up their minds about its meaning

I see what you mean, I guess what bothers me is not the fact they support a particular developer or console manufacturer that fine nothing wrong with supporting somthing you like its the ones who insult and have a go at other people because they either like something they don't or vice versa.

My last post reminded of another one I dislike 'Console Wars'.

When manazines or whoever refer to your character in a game as an "avatar."

                      how about 'trash talk'.
whoever decided it was a good idea to promote such a thing should be shot. i really hate the way its reeled out as something good on the back of xbox games.

"New games journalism". I hate that phrase. And it mostly seems to apply to articles where 95% of it has nothing to do with anything and is about the writer's day out at a restaurant and then there's a paragraph at the end about the game.

Monkeys, anything to do with monkeys. Loads of the gaming articles seem to spank off over whether there is a monkey in the game.

the whole l337 and putting numbers in your name, Fata1ity im talking about you as he takes it that one step to far, why cant he just use his real name.

"hi im steve and i play games for a liveing" sounds so much better dont you think.

I used to get gib for using David Fallows for my gamertag...

                              "That's so ****ing gay..."
"Why are you using your real name? LOLz"

Oh, sorry, you're right - I'm so sad for not thinking up some queer nickname I can hide behind that I label myself with to try and make myself sound hard. I had this **** from the English too, not just the 100% or so of the unreasonable americans on Live!.

FRAG - I hate that word, where the hell does it come from? (I first heard it on Quake online back in '96) Why not use the word 'kills' instead? Sounds short for 'fraggle'. You ****ing frag.

It's from 'fragmentation' as in 'fragmentation grenades' is it not? Doesn't apply to 90% of the cases where it's used though.
