Not sure if it strictly count as a gaming "phrase", but it crops up a lot in discussion online:

"LOL jaggies" whenever the latest absolutely beautiful screenshot of a game is released.

It makes me see red every time.

'_____' is back, bigger than ever before!

Insert any generic character name in the slot above.

Not a phrase but more sad and boring and pointless ramblings about nintendo vs the world.
Its so mind numbing, I could understand shigsy coming on here and defending the big N but the loyalty and sheer bloody mindedness of nintendo lovers kills me.
So many good/decent threads have desended into farce just by someone taking a side swipe an the medium N .

              Rant over.

Another phrase I hate is " GTA esque" .

Bit late to bring this back up but I think it was a Vietnam thing, even gets used in Platoon.

frag: 1a) noun. a slang term for a [fragmentation] [hand grenade]. 2a) verb.

Oh I remember seeing something about games, sure it was on Riachard and Judy (don't ask!) where Judy kept calling the guy (it might have been Ste Curran) a gamester. A gamester? Where the hell did that come from?

ignorre richard and judy they went senile a long time ago. Regarding postino's comments i wouldn't call the GC a weak console, but i would call it weak in comparision with nintendo's other consoles. But in the end the output on the ps2 and xbox has been poor overall so if the GC was to be called weak than the other two are no better.

back on topic i hate it when the writers for Edge always refer to themselves as 'Edge', i don't know why but it gets to me. Are they trying to make us think that the whole magazine for 10yrs is written by one super being called edge, tell us your real names and stop hiding behing the mag's title.

No, no they're (it is) not. Also, couldn't you accuse gamesTM of commiting pretty much the same horrible crime? You like gamesTM though, so it's easier to ignore that little fact, right?

If you want their real names then you can get that in (I think the pros call it) the 'Flannel Panel', or 'credits strip' to us laymen. Read the magazine and do a bit of *cough* net surfing and you can easily work out who is writing what.

Is your real name muse hunter? If not, then stop "hiding behind" your online title.

I agree with postino's comments in saying the the NGC is a weak console, it seriously lacks a lot of games that are on the PS2. For example, the NGC lacks JPN RPG's, music titles like Frequency, Amplitude, Rez and Guitar Hero, plus JPN's Shoot em Up's like DoDonPachi, Mushhimesama, Raiden 3, and Psyvariar 2 to name a few, there are loads more.

The only reason the NGC is my favourite console is because it's the only system where i can play NCL titles (obviously). I mean, some are good and some are ****. Let face it though, if you could get NCL titles on the PS2/Xbox, then there would be no reason to own a NGC!

i don't read gamestm, and i shouldn't need to waste my time searching the net to look for those who write the mag, their writers should be shown as individuals instead of parts of a huge super being that is EDGE.

Regarding my name, who knows? My parents might have been high when they decided to name me

                              Whose magazine is it anyway?

Simple (and lazy) solution to your problem coming up, don't buy or read the magazine and it'll all feel better.
