    XBox Gamerscore Envy

Jesus...I added my gamercard as my avatar last night but after looking at the Gamercard thread I feel pretty inadequate! I knew I wasn't exactly on a huge score but I thought nobosy would have more than maybe 2000...

There may even be higher but I noticed that Rushy has 3675!

The plan for '06 is now clear...

Get sacked and play 24/7...even then I bet I couldn't complete Ridge Racer 6...

Just out of interest, how are people adding their gamertags to their avatars?

When I did mine it said there was an error but showed anyway...maybe its a Safari thing...

I got the error too but it seems to have worked !

Gamerscore thing makes me laugh - Some people seem to think it's a contest to get the highest score but with the inconsistency between games (i.e King Kongs easy 1000) it's not possible to look at it like that. Plus you've got gamertags being used by more than one person and stuff.

I love using the compare games feature though just to see how much people have unlocked - saw somebody with 1000 for COD2 the other day which motivated me to plough into the veteran missions.

Envy is a path that leads to the darkside...

Gamerscore is nice, but I wouldn't put too much credence in it at the moment. Some games tend to hand points out like they're going out of fashion (Kameo and Condemned) while others really make you earn it (DOA4, PGR3 and PDZ).

Rather than gamerscore I'd be looking at the actual achievements themselves as more of an indication of how good someone is ie:- did they just finish the game or did they find all the items and complete it etc.

My score is a respectable 1600-odd at the moment. For me anything over the 1000 mark was a sheer bonus

Need bigger avatars...bad enough that I only have 615 points but in the avatar it looks more like 015!

I have 2445 or something at the moment, but every time I think about it I deduct 1000 points, since I got them for doing bugger all. (That is, I finished King Kong )

Yes, I was only mucking about to be honest. But If it wan't for Madden almost giving them away I would hardly be in triple digits...

Hmm...so Kong hands them out willy nilly as well?

I'll have to rent a copy of that then...wait, did I just think that or type it? ****!

                  : legs it :

Inertia has 4660 which is the most on my list. Mine is 1060, Ive played a lot but the games Ive played like R6, are really tight on giving out achievement points.

And, on the plus side it really does add something to games. For the last few years my interest in gaming has dwindled more and more and I have ended up sticking to fewer and fewer games.

Something like PGR3 I would probably have played for a bit then put to one side. But looking in your friends list and seeing that Friend X has completed task Y really keeps my interest alive.

I think we'll see it tighten up a lot in future releases - I would have thought MS would have had guidelines of some sort - I haven't seen a game that offers more than 1000 for example.

Yes I only just picked up Ridge but I bet it's going to take some serious effort to rinse many points out of it. Probably all come near the end by which time my limited skills will have run dry.

Perhaps we need a pool of players that can go around completing other peoples achievements!

As for your comment Yoshimax, I could be wrong but I think I remember hearing that there is a set limit (maybe it was 1000).

Just changed my avatar but it's a shame they're so small... and now we all look much the same as each other!

                            Ahem..

As for gamerscore, it's as much an indication of how many games you own as it is skill.

Arcade games only have 200 (due to their size) but I thought MS had made the 1000 points mandatory (no more, no less). When I looked the other day tho Condemned shows up as only having 970, and PGR3 900
