How does the whole score thing actually work? I don't know how I managed to get 80 points! Is it just from playing games through, or is it the scores from playing online games that give you it?

Okay, each game has a 1000 gamer score, you can earn the gamerscore by getting achievements. You can check the achievements on the internet or on the game it self.

Xbox arcade games work the same kind of way, except you can only get 200 gamerscore from them.

Ah, cool. So it's the 4 or 5 acheivements on PGR3 that've given me the 80 points then. So how the hell do I get the other 920 if there's only another 16 achievements? Do they go up in value, the more you unlock or something?

Well, usually when you get a achievement, something pops up on the bottom of the screen saying 'Achievement unlocked'.

To see what achievements you have unlocked and how you can get other achievements, press the xbox guide button (big button on the middle of the controller) clikc Your gamercard and go to 'view games'. To view indiviual game achievements, click that game.

Harder achievements tend to give higher points. Well, they should anyway.

Notice how those with massive Gamerscores own about 5 EA games. It seems nigh on impossible to not get 1000 points with them.

Skill wise they don't seem to be too good at all when you compare on a per game basis, with plenty of the harder achievements left untouched, instead resorted to playing more games to buld up their scores.

I find it much more impressive when I look at peoples indivisdual games and see the really tough achievements being unlocked, rather than someone who has a lot of time and money with little skill.

The EA games in general do give out points too easily...especially as they can be completed on any difficulty level (for the most part).

Madden though has the insane 'Complete 30 years of Franchise" which would take about 500 hours of play I reckon.

Its a superb idea, you see points you can gain and see people on your friends list have gained them.
Gives you that wee extra push to get it we you see someone else has it.
Glad people are using the gamercard avatars, its a cool idea.

shame there isn't any sort of way to convert them to arcade stuff

But that guy has 1000/1000 on Call of Duty 2, I think its safe to say that although the EA games have helped him, he or she is pretty damned skilled.

Gamerscore is really anoying me!. I've never been much of a completist, just finishing games that I really enjoy. Now it really bugs me if I haven't managed to get as much gamerscore cred as possible from games even though some of the achievemnts are ridiculous.

I think Gamerscore is the best thing about the 360. Take Gun for example - completed it, and normally that would be it. However, I then done all the side missions to get a couple of extra points. Same with CoD2. And now Amped 3.

No doubt some bigger games will have more than the 1,000 points. I like the way PDZ has split the points between single player and online, wouldn't be surprised if they let Halo 3 have 1,000 for single player and 1,000 for online.

Very pleased with my score considering I've not had the EA stuff, but yes King Kong was a bit of a joke.

Yikes - just seen I'm 385 in total, in the whole ****ing world. That's it, less gaming for me!

I still plodding through Call of Duty 2 on Vet. I just did D-Day campaign and my 60 points were well deserved. That was one of the hardest, hardest sets of levels I have ever played (and completed) in a game in a long, long time. I hate to imagine what the next few levels will be like, but I will get those 1000 points for it! On 620/1000 at the moment..
