As for gamerscore, it's as much an indication of how many games you own as it is skill.

And, of course, how much time is invested.

Although that varies wildly from game to game. King Kong is a quick one to complete, and once you do - 1000 gamepoints.

Gamerscore is a nice idea but doesn't really mean much.

No, but like I said earlier, for me at least, it probably keeps me interested in a game when otherwise I would take a break from it or get something new and never end up returning to it even though I liked it.

It is just a bit of fun, I don't think it can ever be used to prove skill (over all score, anyhow) and I don't think that was its intention. I loved how PGR3 wanted me to buy all the Lambo's etc, that was fun working through those.

The best achievements I've seen so far are for DoA4 (though I don't own it) - it has tonnes of 0 points achievements for playing crap. 10 losses in a row, for example. It even has random ones like "defeated a player who was on a winning streak between 16 and 19 wins". Awesome!

I love the Gamerscore, as I see it rise it is satisfying to know Ive put effort into the games Ive bought, it motivates me to play and gives me goals, I dont compare my score to others but I do look to see what achievements others have for the games I play. I think its a masterstroke myself.

To be honest I haven't put too much effort into increasing mine, I play on Live just about all the time and I only have 2 games.

Aye - seeing YOUWIN had gotten all the achievements on Bankshot Billiards caused me to redouble my efforts and get the Time Trial, Trick Shot and Golf achievements. That Time Trial one really is a trial too. The acheivement stuff is genius.

I've gotten over 3000, But I'm by far the most proud of the achivements in PDZ, I've managed to complete it 68% (but I reckon I could get another 2 or 3 achievements from it), so I've gotten 550 'gamer score' from it.

When it comes to gamerscore, I try and break even (with my final representive gamerscore which I could achieve if I get all achievement in the games I own), so I try to get 500 from each game.

I had got really lazy playing the games I bought the last few years, one really had to grab me to keep me playing till the end. Now with the this how ever, I'm finding that I really want to chip away at all the games again to find as much from it as I can, it's really brought me some fun back.

Also for the last year or so I have pretty much exclusively played online games. Since getting my 360 for Xmas I have only played on live a handful of times. Single player has been rejuvinated for me because I can still be competing against real people in some way (without having to put up with all the online cheesers!)

I was comparing my achievements last night to some of the people on here. As others have said, when you start to compare certain games with people on your friends list, the desire to improve intensifies. A brilliant idea.

Does the Gamer score actually count for anything or just bragging rights? Maybe MS should invent a system which rewards people for obtaining certain amounts of points - afterall you only obtain them by buying the games...

Its just bragging rights. I think it's a great feature. It encourages you to complete games fully which is always a good idea. It's nice being able to compare scores with someone else, and see what you have to do to get another 100 points or whatever. Unless they are all secret achievments like the ones in RR6!

edit: I think it also shows how **** some developers are and how unimaginative they can be. Look at PDZ for example, I have finished they 3 times, yet I only get 25 points in total for it? It's all multiplayer scores, and considering that mode is ****e then I ain't gonner bother. Sigh.

Yep, Tiger Woods is the same - mostly online achievements, and apparently the online mode isn't great. One of the achievements is for playing 1000 online games! I mean, if that's 18 holes a time, that's gonna take some investment!
