I only got DOA4 the other day and I agree with buster on a lot of stuff, it's incredibly frustrating to get a 10 hit combo done on you when they feel like it regardless of how much "blocking" you do.

On the lowest difficulty, on starting the story mode I got my ass handed to me. I will perservere, but after first playthrough this nearly got sold straight away. I expect a game to have SOME difficultly level but this almost had me snapping the controller on FIRST play!

FFVII - Played about 50 hours and got to the point where my buggy kerploded... couldnt be arsed, never saw the massive fuss with this.

SotC - After ICO this felt like a boring let down, maybe i was expecting too much ICO 2 as everyone hyped it as but i got to Collosus 5 and found it repetitive.

        Eh? Great stories? Zelda???

After finished Condemned on launch, went to this and it just seemed pants. Nothing about it seems good, the multiplayer seemed dull as dishwater, the game itself just seemed crap...tried 3 times before deciding to sell it...maybe I will regret it but I just find it dull.

          Ridge Racer 6 (360)

Loved this game up to about 54% and it just got too hard in so much as I could DO the levels/races but it would take about 6-10 tries, baring in mind that there are only about 19 courses in the entire game (maybe not even that many) and half of them are reversed anyway, having to do a race 10 times is grating on me and I just can't bare to do it anymore. Probably will keep it but I don't see myself getting any further...I had a period where I was getting loads of achievements and moving on fairly quickly but now the game feels dead to me. Kept me busy before games like Ghost Recon, Fight Night and Oblivion came out.

Call me stupid but I just don't find a racing game where the basis of the latter levels is to block the opponents and basically disregard actually racing, JUST block the opponents all that fun to be honest, it's gets beyond frustrating and took all the fun out of it for me.

          Tiger Woods (360)

Played this absolute loads when I got it, got pretty good but the game feels too small and quite frustrating, it's a game that suffers from seeing the loading screen far too much. Little "trials/challenges" you HAVE to do to be able to further your career that are about 3 minutes in real-time and then it loads again, you fail...try again, load...fail, try again...load! You seem to end up seeing the load screen more than playing the game.

          PGR (360)

Same as above really, the game suffers from over-loading so to speak but at least with this game the on-screen visuals might warrant it. However, I just find having to see the load-screen that much for a tiny speed camera trial or a "get # kudos in X time" a bit too much. After getting an Aston Martin DB9 the novelty wore off completely. I also found that I'm unbelievably **** at it and just cannot get used to the cornering after playing Ridge 6 too much this was barely playable.

          Shadow Of Collossus (PS2)

Don't know what happened here! Got to the last but one collossi and just never played it again! Again, might be that the novelty wore off because the game was so so good until that point, I just got a bit bored of exploring to find the next one but nothing happens along the way, no "fast-travel" option and it's just empty scenery...nicely done mind you!

Having said that, that was about the time I got my 360 and I haven't played on the PS2 since then actually!!

          --

I imagine most people would say PGR is the one I should try again, but I have...I just can't get into it, it doesn't seem my type of racer!
Looks to me like Xbox 360 was a bad choice for you

my list of "retired games" would be too long to write it down here.

marcus, you should give GRAW a chance. it's a shooter with some truly outstanding moments. no like Halo, but sometimes it comes close in its presentation and the feeling of beeing there.

every time i hear this or similar words from other gamers i cant help but shake my head in disbelief Halo is one of the very few games that i keep coming back to - even after finishing it many times already! an oustanding game - if you are not only into sophisticated FPS but alos into SciFi and military stuff!

Tiger Woods and King Kong on 360. They both suck.
GRAW (360) annoyed me when I realised I had to do it on easy as well as hard.
Condemned (360) & SotC (PS2) haven't even been opened yet.

Oh, I never finished Half-Life 1 either. Got distracted by the online aspect...

God my list will be huge, can't be bothered to write them all down but just going through my current list of games:

Jade Empire - got to the second town. Thought it was OK but not as good as KoTOR. Would have liked to finish it because the story seemed alright.

Splinter Cell - have owned every one in the series but never played for more than a few hours. Not quite sure why I kid myself.

Panzer Dragoon Orta - couldn't do final boss. Gave up, never returned.

KoTOR 2- adored the original, didn't play the sequel for more than an hour. The opening section is dreadful.

Metroid Prime - got about a few hours from the end I think. Loved the game but obviously something else came along. Tried picking it up again later but couldn't get back into it.

Metroid Prime 2 - played for a couple of hours. Seemed good...got bored.

Dead or Alive 4 - pretty much hated it from the work go, no idea why I bought it. Want to sell but can't really be arsed.

Guild Wars - loved this, but struggled to find people to play with. I blame silvergun for giving up first.

Biohazard GC - got to when the crimson zombies appear, got scared. Not touched since.

F-Zero GC - got quite far, found it too hard. Not touched it since.

Wave Race GC - didn't like it, hardly played it.

Zelda Four Swords - absoultely love this game, but none of my friends do, despite us having the ability to use it at its full potential.

Burnout Revenge Xbox - gave up at about 75% and no idea why. Will swap for 360 version one day

                Full Spectrum Warrior - meh

Phantom Dust - not bad, not great

Civ4 - played the tutorial and continued to finish the game. Not played since. Good fun though.

Truma Center DS - great game, got a fair way through but found it pretty hard.

                Nintendogs - awful game...i think.

Meteos - loved this but for some reason haven't played for more than an hour

                Phoenix Wright - same

Killer 7 - really really disliked this, but perhaps didn't give it enough of a chance. From what I've read it sounds excellent, but I found it really horrible to play (and I quite liked the controls).

D2 - a great game that makes you not want to like it. Awful controls but actually a very scary experience...got about half way through and for reasons unknown never returned.

                  Metroid Prime 2

Had this since new. Started playing it in the middle of last year and have got to the point where you need to collect all the keys ( near the end ). Cant be bothered to keep trapsing around the entire world trying to find them.

                  Shadow of the Collossus

Have defeated the first 7 and am stuck now. At some stage I should make the effort to complete this.

Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic 2

Another one I have had since new. Played this for about 4 hours and has then been left on the wayside since then.

                  Steel Battalion

Got stuck on the level after the Battleship one. Bit too much effort playing this sometimes as I have to tart about getting a table into my gaming room and getting a suitable chair.

Like most others on the forum I buy several games each month and am always eyeing up whats next.

For the past week I have been playing FF IV on the GBA and playing through Resi 4 for the 3rd time. Come next week these games will have Dragon Quest VIII, Guitar Hero and possibly Battlefield 2 to contend with. Sometimes there just arent enough hours in the day!

My biggest one is metroid prime. Got so far, couldn't find where to go next and turned it off after 30 minutes of looking. Never powered it on since. I blame Wind Waker as I started playing that and didnt go back to Prime - it was daunting after a month or so being away from it.

Both Metroid: Echoes and Pikmin 2.

Neither had the charm or excitement that the originals provided and are also 2 of my most disappointing sequels I have ever played in my videogaming life.

I got quite far in Echoes although 80% of the time, I was absolutely forcing myself to push on then I had ONE go at a boss with more than 4 legs then I gave up straight away. On the other hand, I nearly completed Pikmin 2 but to go in another 'dungeon' (underground) section made my hear split in two thus I didn't bother.

I sold them both last Easter holiday and I don't regret my decision whatsoever!

                          Devil May Cry

I think i've tried to sit down and play this seriously about 6 times now, each time barely getting further than the 4th mission. I just can't enjoy it for some reason. Everything about it seems like work.

I think the first 3 failed attempts at playing it were down to simply not quite getting the sort of game it was. I was expecting a sort of more actiony resident evil, with lots of exploration and puzzles to go with the combat (does it actually become that later?) , but it seems more geared towards the combat solely, and it's relatively oldschool at it's core, requiring a fair bit of dying/retrying. Even when i adjusted to that, i still just can't get on with it. I dunno why, I loved God of War, and generally like other games that are said to be like DMC.

In all seriousness, is this series really worth the effort?

                          Metroid Prime

This seems to be a common one. Started it, got to the planet, discovered i'd missed some scans, and when i found out you can't go back and get them, my 100% completion obsession kicked in and i was forced to restart. Following that, The scanning and environments that seemed more like work than fun, put me off. I'd still like to go back to it though.

                          Jade empire

It just didn't seem like it was ever going to go anywhere truely interesting. Wasn't really keen on the combat either.

                          Baldurs Gate 2 (PC)

It's just so big, I end up leaving it for a while, then having no idea of where i am, what quests i have going or anything. the first one took me an age to complete for the same reasons, I'm resolved to actually complete this one day.

                          Skies of Arcadia (DC)

Very little actually wrong with this title, (bar the random battle frequency), Uni work got in the way and i never went back to it should really.

                          Blue Stinger (DC)

I know it's terrible, but early on in the DC's life it had it's charm, and it's got Dogs Bowser in it. I basically all but completed this, but the end boss is almost impossible, usually resulting in death in the first 5 seconds, after which you are forced to watch a series of unskippable FMVs for literally 5 minutes before you can have another crack at it. To this day it angers me.

Finally, one that i have just today dusted off and returned to,

Prince of Persia: The Warrior Within

Loved sands of time, absolutely despised this game. From the angsty makeover, the turgid music, to the supposedly 'improved' combo obsessed combat system. it all left me cold.

I'm only returning because I feel that before i play the two thrones, i should clear this one. I spent most of today playing it, and i can see why i dropped it in the first place, It's just so frustrating! Whilst there are still moments of platforming glory, it's all so diluted by horrible combat, awful restart/save point placement and too much backtracking compounded by confused level design. It just seems to lack all the charm and design grace of the first one. At least they got rid of the respawning enemies from PP:SoT

                            Resident Evil 4: GC

Started playing it and absolutely loved every second then I reached the castle. I started to find the castle a little boring and then one day just stopped playing it and haven't picked it up since. My gamecube is currently boxed up in my cupboard waiting for the day when i resume my game.

                            Shenmue 2: DC

This is sitting on my shelf in England along with my Dreamcast, I'm absolutely dying to start playing it again but i know that if I ask my dad to send my Dreamcast over to HK he'll probably forget to stick Shenmue 2 in with it, only send Shenmue 2 or send me the Dreamcast with Shenmue 1. I'll have to give him a detailed explanation of where everything is in the attic and exactly what he needs to check.

                            Trauma Center: DS

I was really enjoying this until I got stuck on one of the missions. I took it out of my DS and loaded up Animal Crossing.... yeah.... I really should do some more fishing....

GRAW - have tried several times but not getting anywhere with it. I loved GR, GR IT, GR2 and GR SS but I am not getting this one. Its like they crossed GR2 with Full Spectrum Warrior and something has been lost. Seriously thinking about trading for Kameo.

Psychonauts - got distracted by Burnout Revenge but will go back to it.

Metroid Prime 1 & 2 - have sold Echoes already as it was the same game again and have not gone back to Prime for at least a year.

Only game I've given up on recently -

                                Prince Of Persia:Two Thrones

I was really looking forward to this one - I'd heard it was much more like SoT that Warrior Within, so was salivating at the thought of another engrossing platform/puzzle hybrid. Too much fighting though - it's not a game where I want to wade through numerous enemies; I want the terrain to be my foe, not legions of faceless trolls.

Also, it didn't take long for the forced dark prince sections to irritate me.
