Biohazard is one of those games where if you leave it for a while and then go back you'll have completely forgotton where you are, what you were doing etc.

However, I cannot stress how fu*king amazing that game is and you'd definitely be missing out having got so far!

Read gamefaqs, get up to speed then start it up again!

I think the first 3 failed attempts at playing it were down to simply not quite getting the sort of game it was. I was expecting a sort of more actiony resident evil, with lots of exploration and puzzles to go with the combat (does it actually become that later?) , but it seems more geared towards the combat solely, and it's relatively oldschool at it's core, requiring a fair bit of dying/retrying. Even when i adjusted to that, i still just can't get on with it. I dunno why, I loved God of War, and generally like other games that are said to be like DMC.

In all seriousness, is this series really worth the effort?
I'd recommend you try DMC3. I played the first one and didn't like it either, it seemed quite dull and I hated the fixed camera. Can't say I enjoyed the environments or the enemies either. But I thought that the 3rd one was brilliant; excellent story, superb action, nice soundtrack, visually superior... a complete package really. I'd suggest you go for Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening Special Edition, believe me, its a whole different animal to the first one.

On the other hand, I nearly completed Pikmin 2 but to go in another 'dungeon' (underground) section made my hear split in two thus I didn't bother.

I sold them both last Easter holiday and I don't regret my decision whatsoever!
I too LOVED the original Pikmin but only finished the main story of P2. I couldn't be bothered 100%ing it as I got to the final level (I think) where you needed 100 purples to lift a dumbell, meaning that you have to go down into the dungeons a few times.

A few hours of your life wasted, trying to get 100 purples. So I couldnt be bothered. The game would have been SO much better if the purples and whites simply had flowers. I ended up selling it as well

These two spring to mind -

Both Metroids {GC} - Bored me, neither have the charm of the SNES one IMO, which sadly was the last Metroid game Gumpei Yokio would ever work on, not to mention finding the whole scanning aspect of the game tedious.

Grand Theft Auto {PS2} - Technically, it's an impressive feat, no doubt about it. However, I find the game particularly boring and bloated. IMO, he mechanics of the main character and it's targetting system are horrid and once you get past the novelty value, I found it a pretty soul-less experience.

            Metroid Prime 2 Echos
I got quite far into this but was put off by the endless scanning and the light and dark stuff, i found it a very hollow game compared to the snes and gameboy versions.

Mario and luigi partners in Time
must of got right near the end of this played it for a good 6-7 hours but Animal Crossing wild world came out and hasent left my ds since.

            Perfect Dark Zero
I played the first two level's and i couldent play anymore, The story was crap the charicterisation was crap and the levels were just terrible, i think its the second level in the disco where you shoot the same bad guy about 30 times and they all just apear out of thin air, then you get the most cringe worthey story line and your just reacing for the eject button, ****e ****e ****e.

            Battalion wars
Far to complicated compared to the GBA versions i gave it about 12 missions and sold it on as it felt like to much of a chore to play.

            FEAR
The most boreing looking game on the planet a water works and then a dark office building that for some reason will only let you round it in the most tedious and painfully drawn out way, so drawn out that i gave up and traded the game in yes the spooky stuff was an intresting angle but the slow mo gun stuff was all been there done that, after seeing some of the level's in far cry and halflife 2 this really did show it self up, and to this day i cant understand for the life of me how this got half the high score's it did.

              Zelda: WW
-I think this one grates on me the most as I absolutely loved it to start with but after getting to the bit where I had to find all the pieces of the tri-force ( or something ) I just stopped. Think it didn't help that the game was so easy either, I generally prefer a challenge. I've still got it but I'm not sure if I'll ever go back to it.

              GRAW
-Bought it, loved it, got to the mission where you start by yourself in the castle, tried that mission over & over again after failing to get more than about 3 minutes in to it before giving up in frustration. Online's ok but Battlefield MC is more my kind of game, currently enjoying the demo more than this.

              DOA4
-Stupidly hard difficulty levels, I'm convinced that as I complete Time Attack with more people, it makes the whole game harder just to spite me. Online is far too laggy to be enjoyable ( & I have 3Mb broadband which has never caused a problem yet ).

              Quake 4
-Stupid Makron( sp? ), just can't survive long enough. Like the game though & will probably go back to it eventually.

There have been many more but these are the most recent. I used to be so good at completing games but that was back when I could only afford one game every so often so I had to get my money's worth. Maybe I should limit myself to one game a month or something.....

              EDIT:

              Perfect Dark Zero:
-Just utter crap, didn't like the game dynamics, missions, etc. Huge disappointment. Will not be bought again.

I know it's terrible, but early on in the DC's life it had it's charm, and it's got Dogs Bowser in it. I basically all but completed this, but the end boss is almost impossible, usually resulting in death in the first 5 seconds, after which you are forced to watch a series of unskippable FMVs for literally 5 minutes before you can have another crack at it. To this day it angers me.
I got to that exact point, expect I saved if next to no HP, so if was to beat the beast I would have to do it without getting hit >< and I played all the way though this horrible yet fascinating(as in setting and atmosphere). Never did finish and never right back.

Zelda: Wind Waker ? got right up to the tri-force collection game and gave up, it just took the biscuit and was something a Zelda game should have forced boring quest to increase longevity. I eventual go back to it over a year or 2 afterwards to complete it.

Mario Sunshine ? Pinta Village broke it for me with yoshi mushroom jumping, infact most of the game was taken up with un-joyable quests/missions in crap samey locations, it only came to life during that huge cliff level and of course the water pack-less bonus stages. As with Zelda I eventually completed it during last Christmas holidays.

Galleon ? I wanted to like this game, I like Pirates and like the timeless graphics and the ?freeform? platforming, some of the levels are awe inspiring vertigo trips but the f?in combat system is pants. Total pants, to clumsy, to hard against multiple opponents. I stopped playing when I got to the defend to women against a Arab boss bit with 2 respawning guards, it was impossible had to put the game down. Though I did beat it in end during my Christmas game beat-a-thon (the women glitched herself into a wall so couldn?t be hit making it easy to win) I got a few levels further before I got to another sticking point and haven?t been back since.

                Xenosaga 1 and 2 ? I should have learned my listen with 1, stopped playing that when after incountable times, I was put up against surprise boss after boss with unlevelled characters, a save point 2hr ago. I think the only that did it for me in the end was mecha battle, I didn?t bother upgrading any of them as so when the single boss battle in the entire game that needed them to beat it stopped me dead. Xenosaga2 is a much better game(specially the placement and combo systems) but my modded jap ps2 can?t load the second Pal disc and there no save point between swapping disks ;_;

Not at all, I've sold those games and got games I really enjoy...

Oblivion, Full Auto, Fight Night, Ghost Recon.

Ridge 6 I really enjoyed but it got to the point where it was too hard.
DOA4 same, it just seems really hard but I'll play it a bit more, it's been a while since I even bought a fighter.

I only listed those because that is the console I'm playing most at the moment so they were fresh to memory. I haven't enjoyed gaming as much as I do now for a long time, all thanks to the 360 actually.

Thought of a few more recent ones...

Pac Pix (DS) ... great at first, interesting...then bored the arse off me.

Kirby Canvass Curse (DS) ...same as above, finished it but to 100% it would be a massive task! Especially since my DS was stolen and I'm waiting on a DS Lite to replace it.

Halo 1 and 2 - Did not do it for me. Found it incredibly repetitive and bar one particular level in the first game (set at night time towards the start) I was forcing myself to continue playing. Very disappointing.

Mario Sunshine - although not achieving the quality of Mario 64, it was an incredibly good game. However, after about 50 shines I felt no compulsion towards completing it so was immediately sold on, and has never been missed.

Prince of Persia: SoT/WW/TTT - possibly the worst combat I have ever encountered, which is extremely frustrating as it overshadowed the beautiful platforming sections.

Happens to nearly all the games i buy!

                        Recently it has been:

Halo 1 - Way too repetetive, there is one level where you keep going down a floor and the room looked exactly like the one above!
It felt like i was forced to play the game (Actually i was, my brother wanted to play co-op lol)

Halo 2 - To be honest i only got to the 2nd level, i wanted to finish the first one.

Half Life 2- This is my fault actaully, i changed the resolution to one that my monitor doesn't support! I thought it would go back to normal after 10 seconds but it doesn't
I tried re-installing it but it still doesn't wrok
It is a shame because i only played it for 2-3 hours and i could tell that it was a good game

FFVI- I got hooked into FFIX so i forgot about FFVI :P (NEVER PLAY 2 FF GAMES AT ONE TIME!)

FFIX - My memory card broke

Project Zero - started this about 3 times, once managed to get up the stairs before having the bejesus scared out of me! It's too damn scary.

Ninja Gaiden - loved this but too far between save points means I gave up on about the 4th level, shame really but I can't be arsed re-doing the same 10+ mins again and again, my life is too short and I have too many games.

Pikmin and Metroid Prime - played about an hour of each before gIving up, neither really clicked, keep meaning to go back to them but something always stops me.

Devil May Cry - stupid frickin spider!!!!

                          X-Men Legends - boring mansion!!!!

Ouendan - am on the Egypt level on insane, haven't played for a couple of weeks after playing for at least an hour each day, will go back to it but I have the fear that it may just be too hard!

Yeah, in that familiar way: you know in the back of your head that the story is pretty much identical every single game, but it just gets better every time you hear/play it with whatever twists Nintendo have chosen to give it this time around. In fairness, the impact Wind Waker's plot twists had was reliant upon the gamer having played many or most previous Zelda titles, but it's still nice to encounter those elements, like an old familiar pair of slippers. Or something.

Zelda Ocarina of Time - Bought it because its hailed as one of the greatest etc...but just could not for the life of me get to grips with it.....infact as i write this i have a burning desire to try attempt playing it again.

Chrono Trigger - Somebody mentioned it earlier which reminded me that I put it down one day and never continued either. I always felt it was one of those RPGs where in a boss fight you had to be 'on it' or it was death, and I think at the time it was building to one hell of a boss fight....what can I say, i got nervous and didnt attempt it lol (should really go back to it someday) ....

Shadow of the Colossus (possibly) - Reached the 16th, can actualy get 'on to' the 16th and then go thro all the hells of extremly low framerate, camera driving me crazy, mass swearing pouring out my mouth, gggrrr?)$*(&"?HDF, ill finish it one day....

Xenosaga 1 - Oh for same reasons as the chap above, never really spent the time leveling up (to be honest i think it happened to most xenosaga players so lets blame the game..) and just got hit hard by impossible bosses, or stuck in areas with no saves. Actualy now i think about it most random battles were a pain in the arse, could go back to it but i doubt i could finish it. Again though, as above post, Xenosaga 2 is excellent.

Are you sure that's not gonorrhea?

Anyway, yeah I have Zelda:OoT, Zelda:MM and Zelda:WW and haven't played any of them.

Everytime I started Ocarina something would come up and I wouldn't be able to save the game and hence had to sit though the whole Navi / Deku tree bit all over again. Plus the fact it was a turgid mess on the PAL N64 kind of put me off.
