According to Famistu and a collection of other Japanese websites, Braid is 1200 points and Castle Crashers is 1800 points. I've been looking forward to Castle Crashers for a year or two now, but at those prices I'll be giving it a pass.

    Hopefully its a typo.

I wouldn't be at all surprised at those prices, seeing how things have been going lately.

Anyone know if the Ticket To Ride DLC went up today?

Do the point prices differ in different regions?

I'll still get Braid for 1200. Castle Crashers? LOL, no way.

That is the correct pricing , nice of microsoft to release a great summer of arcade games, at ripoff prices, i want these but feel if people keep paying more points, microsoft will keep prices high , when was the last 400 pts orignal game, 800 is steep but any more is crazy.

This is where Microsofts point system is stupid. I can understand why they've got it, to tempt people into spending money without even realising what they're spending but now it's beginning to make things look way more expensive than they are.

We can get points from Tesco for around £13 for 2100. That makes Castle Crashers just over £11. I imagine most people would have happily paid that for it but when it's nearly 2000 points it looks prohibitively expensive. I might've been tempted into a purchase at 800 despite knowing little about the game but the psychological effect of "nearly 2000" has killed that chance.

I wonder if the pros of points outweigh the cons.

Aye, but more like £15 if you're not points-savvy (eg, most people).

When XBLA started up, who thought they'd be asking £10-15 for game? Not I. And unless the demos make my eyes pop out of my head and my jaw hit the floor, they can feck off. I can get a decent second-hand retail game for that much, and sell it again when I'm done with it.

People were happy to pay £30-40 for a retail copy of Alien Hominid and that was just a tarted up flash game. Providing castle crashers if of decent quality what's £15/£11?

Castle Crashers can seriously GTF now. Even 1200 points would have been a stretch, but 1800! I think this will really hurt sales, bad pricing decision!

I wasn't - Alien Hominid was no Metal Slug just a poorer dirivative.

Problem is at the price only people who really want it will buy it - at 800 more gamers would have given it a go so for 1800 it better be a damn good Live Arcade title.

Microsoft has said that those prices are incorrect. There is still hope!

Looks like even The Behemoth have gone in to damage limitation mode.

With my cynical hat on I'd question if it's a case of the price not being set or near instant back peddling? Hmm...

I would go with latter, I mean they have almost a month to decide price so why not test the water first with a wee leak? 1800 you say? oh you say no? then we say 1200 points, Rejoice!
                              like the wee picture though.

Does anyone think that MS are gonna try to sell us 360 retail games via the XBL marketplace at some point in the not-too-distant future? The new dash will allow retail games to run from HDD, and with the increasing price of XBLA games (800/1200 seeming to be the norm these days, not to mention this recent faux pas), it seems they're testing the waters to see how much people will pay for download-only content. Since 360 launch, they've been evangelising about a "download-only" future ("BluRay is not important, blah blah") ...
