Xbox Live Market Place - General Discussion Thread 1

Before it was changed to 1200, almost every comment on Major Nelson's blog said "I wouldn't have bought this for 1200, but for 800 it's an instant buy!" They really should have taken the hint.

Since it was changed, almost every comment says "I'm not buying it for 1200 points."

I would love it if we found out daily sales data for this, how many did it sell at 800, how many since the change, that'd be incredibly interesting.

They've shot themselves in the foot. This not only shows 800 points was the right price for this title, but now many people who may have spent 1200 points won't because they'll feel ripped off. So they drop back to 800, then have to refund those who did fork out the full amount? Right little **** up. Should have taken the hit and stuck at 800 once it was on. And if that meant MS had to lose their cut of the sale, then so be it, as it was a mistake their end.

Presumably, though, given that MS have all that sales data, they mustn't see a huge difference in sales between 800 and 1200 point games, if 1200 is starting to become the standard price. They'd only do it, after all, if they made more money that way. You get a lot of noise on forums every time there's a 1200 point game, but if it really resulted in a huge drop in sales, they'd stop doing it.

I checked at around 10pm last night at it was still 800 points, are you sure it wasn't some error?

I think if you tried to download it you get an error - if you look at the broweser download queue it's still listed as 1200.

its on majors blog that the 800 price was an error, 1200 or 800 i thought it was a load of old tosh anyway so i dont really care, but no one will buy it at 1200 will they

So the people that bought it at 800...does their game stop working, or do the rest of the people who might have bought it just have to swallow that particular **** sandwich?

Nothing happens, it just carries on as normal and if you didn't buy it in time, "tough." Probably Microsoft's official word on the matter.

I bought Bankshot Billiards for 600 points ages ago, they were meant to be lowering it to 800 but they screwed it up and I got it quick enough, it's still fine

Did anyone else get the email about the price error when Braid was deal of the week?!

Bit strange this. I remember posting about this at the time. When I tried to get Braid through my Xbox it wanted 1200 points, so I ended up doing it through the PC Marketplace, where it was definately 800 points....

In theory if they give me back 500 points, I'll have got Braid for 300 - bargain!

Is US springtime between March 20th - June 20th, cant say I know for sure, all a bit confusing. The UK xbox.com splash page just says TBA though, dunno if that's just cause it's not updated as much as the US portal.
Reckon 1 VS 100 will go up at E3 2009 though.

So this week we get on Wed Bano Tooie and Virtual ON Oratorio Tangram both 1200 each.
Also now now on xbox live Max Payne 1 and 2 individually for Xbox Originals also 1200 each (double pack on steam for $15 anyone?)
