I was put off Bliss Island by the trial. Could you give some more details about the full game Brats?

Sure. The basic mechanic is kind of like snooker viewed from top down. You play either a ball like creature creature that can move in 360 degrees or you control a creature that fires air onto a round object to make it move.
There are seven very different games that all use this basic mechanic. Some are very simple (like the race game where you simply have to roll your creature around the track) and others are deeper (the Brick Invaders game, where you have to fire a ball into descending invaders, but hit them in colour order).
In about half of the games, there is a gravity, so the ball will descend to the bottom of the screen (where you lose a life) unless you keep it up.
It's kind of hard to explain in words, so here is a youtube clip showing Brick Invaders, which is one where you fire air at another object::
And this is Seventh Heaven where you have direct control of a creature around the level (easy to fall off in this one):

I have had a quick go on Tiqal, not sure yet if I like it or not need to try again. It's like a combination of Tetris and Lumines but not as good as either, from my initial impression. Need to play it some more.
I have just had another go on Switchball after the update and I seem to have got worse at the game. I do like it but I had to switch it off cause I was getting frustrated today. No tearing now either.
