I simply hope that not every single Wii game HAS to use the unique controller method because I fear it could get rather boring just like - despite being different - the EyeToy.

I still reckon that the Wii is suitable for party and multi-player games rather than the focus on single player and online play, which doesn't worry me as the GameCube was always a multi-player system for me.

      Lets wait and see.
Totally agree. GC only goes on when the guys are round and we fancy some fun multiplayer, and the controller could be great in Mario Party Wii

It has sold more than the Xbox has to date o_O I'd hardly call that "naff all" hehe.

I still don't see how hardware shifted equated to quality of console. Dreamcast struggled to shift 10 million yet before it's classics were poached, it's lineup was incredible, and the consoles existance is still perfectly justified if only because it's the ONLY place you can play the original Jet Set Radio and heck, that game is worth the ?199.99 I paid for my launch DC alone.

So long as WiiSports, Trauma Centre: Second Opinion and Mario Galaxy are up to scratch, the console will be worth buying at anything under ?150 to me. Thats not taking into account all the other potentially amazing software the system could be getting.

At the end of the day a console can sell 2billion units, but if theres no awesome games to play on it, theres just no point.

Watched that last night. That IGN bloke annoyed me after about a minute but was nice to see some close up action with the games.

just watched that now.. I can't wait for the release of the Wii, Red Steel looks the business!!! I think a lot of people will be spending lots of pennies towards the end of the year, including me!..

and that presenter was annoying, he talked the talk.. but didn't walk the walk.. blaming distance from the screen for his piss poor performance..

I personally liked his comment along the lines of "Oh look I've just found this new move, if you flick up while walking backwards you jump backwards do it while walking forwards you jump forwards" Revolutionary stuff he's found there

The turning speed worries me a little in red steel.. when he's in the lieek pachinko hall it looks a right struggle just to turn around.. should have a quickturn move or something on the left control.. would be nice.

Watching some of that footage now, first impression of the battalion game was : "Whats the point"...it looks fiddly and uncomfortable and could be done so much easier on a normal pad...

The more I think about it the less excited I get. It could almost just be a peripheral for a normal console that comes bundled with tennis etc.

"Shake the controller" to tackle...don't like that idea either!

Being close to the TV makes aiming hard? I hope thats a lie otherwise that is terrible. "6 to 8 feet away" that's pretty average for a normal owner I'd guess.

I think I was really in love with the idea of the wii, now I've seen more of it in action...completely "meh" for me.

In Red Steel, when he goes round a corner, why does the weapon "turn" as such, it looks really wierd...and yeah, how slow does it turn!! The slow motion thing? Oh dear, looks poor.

The way he's holding his hands with the wii controllers looks like your arms will be in agony after an hour.

Games like Wii Golf...desperately need wireless wii controllers, Tennis could do with it too. The conducter game looked like he was doing nothing in truth.

I know what you mean, hopefully there'll be options to tweak the settings to suit your personal preference. I hope there are more sword strikes too.. but wii'll have to wait and see

I agree with you Jebus, wireless controllers are a must, I hate sitting close to the tv.. and it'll be harder if you're jumping around or flailing your arms wildly..

Well it's just the two don't add up.

                        1. You need to be far away from the TV
                        2. You have a wire.

How the hell will that work with Golf? How can you get far enough away from the TV for the sensor yet have a cable that's long enough? Oh and then when you get that distance away, have to do a back swing...

If they don't find a way to have wireless controllers they will really have dropped a bollock in my opinion. OK they aren't going for Hi Def but seriously, it's hardly advanced techonology to offer wireless control units!

The conducter game, you're gonna have a wire flailing around the area...hope nobody playing that has kids that are around at the time, because it's just asking to whip someone in the eye really. I know that is extreme but it could have been avoided with wireless units.

I sit about 8-10 feet from my TV and ONLY because it's a wall mounted flat screen. Also, since the console IS NOT aimed at HDTV owners then it's aimed at CRT users right? Meaning non-wall mounted tvs...so how uncomfortable will it be on our necks to play Wii Golf on a tv that is at waist height? If those games can be played sat down then fair enough, but if that is difficult and you need to stand up, then that's gonna be crap, especially if you DON'T live in a house where the room you play games in is a mile in diameter.

There are a lot of issues that just make it confusing for me and I liked the ideas far more before I saw them. In honesty that video has put me off buying one. It's like they are trying to do two or three things at once.

I'm worried about Red Steel now. Have the character models always looked like cardboard cutouts? Maybe it's the lighting? What's really lacking though is the aggression on enemy faces. Where are their expressions? Missed out large with that.

I dont see why the cursor in Red steel (and probably metroid) isnt centralised, so it acts just as you expect, like a mouse. If you want to be static and shoot around they could asign that to a nuncuck button so the scene becomes a shooting gallery.

Im getting my first jitters, the control doesnt seemed to have tightened up right from when first seeing the games.

It's pretty likely that would be vomit inducing, unless you have completely tremor free hands.
I'm sure someone will get it right sooner or later anyway

The controllers have always been wireless. They might be wired on a demo unit but they've always been wireless as far as the finished console goes. Unless Ive missed something
