I been really surprised with the types of games I've gotten into since getting one. That whole military team mentality was the last thing I thought I would be digging on, yet I've found myself rolling with two squads and have even started using phrases like "I have 'eyes on' the enemy", etc In fact the 3 games I've bought (from shops) are all military on-line games.

I wish I'd not been so desperate to get that Lost Planet Demo as I'd probably researched it more and bought an Asian 360 instead of legging it down to HMV - so want to play that shoot/beat-em-up game >_< But then the last few months I've been loving gaming again more than ever so wouldn't trade up that for anything.

I can't imagine that happening to me I'm really not into military stuff at all. If some of them were more sci fi or something then maybe, but realistic human wars? *snore*

Well, as of now it's an xmas possibility for me, it all depends on whether I need another console after I have the Wii.

There was a list on Wikipedia, but it now seems to have disappeared...IIRC, there were only about 2 games that were said not to work.

Something else that needs to be considered about an NTSC-J machine is that the backwards-compatability feature is poor with only a handful of decent games working. Even after a recent update, the list is tiny compared with PAL/US.

I'm definitely not holding out for the PS3 either, a 360 is a hundred times more likely.

There are plenty of decent non FPS and driving games, Oblivion, Amped 3, dead or alive, table tennis, Dead Rising an N3 are all excellent games.

I didn't really enjoy playing PC FPS's that much, but as soon as I got Halo on the Xbox I was hooked, Halo 2 online is the greatest set of gaming experiences I've had

Yeah, I mentioned Oblivion, I'd definitely get that but the others you mention don't grab me either. Admittedly I don't know a lot about Dead Rising but if it's like State of Emergency like people are saying then I'm not interested.

You're right though, what would probably happen is I would play Halo or something else I've never tried and love it but I'm not taking the risk just yet.

Well that definately makes sence, and was something I wasn't really aware of. If all games are available in english launguage versions, then I guess it may be the way to go.

I still think there is a snobbery about Japanese gaming though in certain parts, and some do limit themselves to playing games only from that region, and do miss out on the great stuff available from the West !

I got one as I convinced Mrs CS that it was a cheap "Media Centre" for all our Pictures, Ipod music and film needs.

Then I bought GRAW and she hasn't used it since.

Sorry to derail this thread but could someone tell me in laymans words:

How much does it cost to get a NTSC-J 360, and all the crap that makes it work

Also call me silly but are there no mods yet for it?

                            Your looking at -
                            • ?267 for the Premium Console bundle from YesAsia with Free Delivery.
                            • ?35 for the necessary step-down from somewhere like Maplins.

Nope, no mods around as of yet, although there is a "flash firmware" technique doing the rounds that allows the use of backups.

You can get the Asian version of the console, which would negate the need for a step-down, however, it's been noted that some Japan-only releases don't work on an Asian machine for some reason.

What's the score if the thing breaks down? Just use the UK number, and MS will replace with a Jap console?

Or do we need to ship to Japan?

I wouldn't normally ask, but the 360 console is the first I've owned that seems to have a tendancy to die at inconveniant moments.

I reckon if things went awry then you'd need to send it back to YA since MS here wouldn't touch it I don't think.
