US Wii: Preorder Details Thread

Never used Importmadness before but it can't hurt to put an order in seeing as I'm ordering for a friend and myself. I've got orders at VG+ and DVDboxoffice so I'll just cancel whichever order is last to be shipped out, if they all get sent at once I'm sure there will be people here who'll take it off my hands for what I paid for it

While I was waiting at a certain US store for a pre-order (at an un-Godly hour) 2 girls had been paid $200 to pre-order 2 Wii's. According to them, the guy who hired them had people all over the States doing this so he could sell them on Ebay.

Colour me disgusted.

Without wishing to drag this thread back to the component cable debacle, does anyone know where online the official ones will be available ? If you picked up a Wii on launch for example, what would your options be ? Are Nintendo going to make them available very soon (ie next couple of days) so that people can order one to get it in time for launch ?

EDIT: This is all from a US point of view - i'm going to be in NYC next weekend and want to get a Component cable at the same time as getting my Wii.

EB Games, Gamestop and Nintendo.com will be the only places to get them, and online-only to boot.

Myself, I'm picking up the Mad Catz Component cable until I can get a proper one.

Yeah, it's crazy to think that GAME have seemingly sorted their allocation out and there's no word on US allocations at all. Maybe Nintendo are giving some love to EU for once... nah

I just preordered the cable from Play-Asia. That means 3 weeks of delicious Composite video.

Glad I got a TV with a semi-decent comb filter now!

Think we're funked on that one Dave. I'm speechless, without speech, that NCS don't have preorders up yet. Maybe the allocation they'll get is so small, they'll just put them up first come, first served, when they have them in stock.

I've given up on a US Wii at launch now, getting a PAL one anyway so will pick up a modded machine (fingers crossed it happens) that can play Jpn/US games when available.
