Its a situation I wouldn't have thought possible a year ago. With the wii and PS3 due out, 360 already out, not to mention the handhelds, it will be the Playstation 2 that dominates my gaming time this Christmas.
I've placed a reservation with my shop for a UK one but thats only if I get desperate and loose all that self restraint I've been developing all year.

Just a thought, but has anyone tried their local import shop? Ok, their prices will be inflated but we were all prepared to pay at least ?40 extra for duty etc. anyway.
Saying that, I could see a UK based importer charging ridiculous amounts for the Wii, given the obvious demand.
What next????

VGI are asking ?300+shipping for a Jp Wii so i'd imagine the likes of CEX charging something similar. I'm pretty determined not to pay over the odds for any games system from now on. Times have changed, i've changed and i'm not gonna take no crap.
My excitement is pretty much all but gone now. No Wii, no PS3 and it looks unlikely for a 360 HD-DVD player to be under my telly any time soon.
Happy xmas, bah humbug.Last edited by Mad Gear; 11-11-2006, 16:24.

is there still hope?........
A portion of a CNN Money article?
?It feels to me like Nintendo is going to have between 600,000 and 800,000 units at launch, but it will have enough to keep the flow coming,? said Brian Farrell, president and chief executive officer of THQ, which will have four games for the Wii this year. ?Nintendo seems to have a good handle on the flow of their goods. With Sony we?re getting less information. ? Sony has put out signals that they?re not getting as many as they would like. We?re not getting the message that the hardware is going to flow smoothly through this holiday season.?
Farrell added he expects Nintendo will ship 1.5 million Wiis to the U.S. by the end of the year.
Reggie Fils-Aime, president and chief operating officer of Nintendo of America, wouldn?t budge from the worldwide number, but did say he expects the first batch of units (which go on sale Nov. 19 for $250) to sell out by Wednesday, but said he expects many stores to be restocked on Black Friday.

Mines been cancelled. Along with the ?350 order of games and peripherals. I'm the manager of an indie games store so I won't have any problems securing a PAL unit. I'll get a USA Wii when the fuss dies down. Hopefully, they will be available within a couple of months after launch with a region mod to play USA and JAP games

Gah! Now I need that will power everyones talkin' about. The pain inside. It... hurts... so.. bad. >_<
C'mon guys and gals, we can pull through this. Tbh, this means I've got more time to spill on Gears, Lost Planet etc.. There's no way in hell I'm cancelling after going through all that agony of refreshing pages for an hour. I'll just have to dodge first play. Would've been nice to play Zelda over Christmas though. Sigh.

I'd be fairly confident to suggest that we'll all have a Nintendo Wii before Lost Planet turns up on x360.

Must sit tight though, a PAL machine would only be a short term fix.
This is the first time I've missed a US or JP launch of a console I'm interested in so will be a new experience for me. Didn't think it would be Nintendo who would stuff it up.
