I'm sure if VG+ knew anything they would let us know. Nintendo seem to be keeping everyone in the dark.

I was thinking about canceling my pre order at VG+ due to financial issues, but looking at my bank statement today, I've realised I've already paid!
W00t!!!!!!!1111one...
So, no cancelation for me.... Essentially, that means I have ?200 more than I thought I did, which means I have no Wii worries (financially).

Originally posted by LazlowThats the thing, up until now the general consensus has been that there are going to be plenty of consoles available at launch. It's the fact that retailers are keeping quiet on allocations that is getting everyone anxious.
Like Vince says, maybe it's a marketing ploy. Instead of publicising that they will have 'x' million Wiis ready to ship on day one they build up a crescendo of pre-orders through ppl desperate to make sure they get one as close to launch day as possible. Stores don't know their exact allocations and so will be encouraging customers to pre-order as soon as possible. If we knew there were going to be plenty to go around then I imagine lots of people would not bother pre-ordering and just pick one up as and when. All speculation of course. Looking forward to finding out on the 19th, when hopefully I will get my pre-order!

Not sure if this has been discussed before but seeing as the Wii isn't the most advanced piece of kit going I can't see why nintendo would struggle to produce more than enough for the demand.
Stories of Sony struggling to supply PS3 makes more sence because of the complex cell broadband and blue-ray stuff they have going on, but i'm hoping Nintendo have **** loads ready to ship on the 19th.

I'd like to think it's all a ploy but I doubt it, it's very strange that retailers don't know how many they're getting this close to launch. Even Amazon.com, the biggest online retailer in America doesn't know.
Not getting my hopes up though, the liklihood of Nintendo turning around next week and saying 'Surpriiiiise!' isn't very likely really is it? I mean why would they??

''The first numbers for supplies of the Wii in Japan have started to come in. Japanese tech site Nikkei IT Plus is stating that the first shipment of Wii units in Japan will fall somewhere around 400,000 total. Keep in mind that Nintendo is looking to add another zero to that figure to come up with worldwide ship numbers by the end of December. Also, the US is going to see the biggest shipment of Wii units, but only rough figures have surfaced so far.''
==============
Considering the US is getting the largest chunk of the inital shipment id assume we are looking towards a shipment of 850,000 up for the US. Thats if Nintendo actually do ship 4million by the years end.
400,000+/- - Japan
850,000+ - US
which would leave a shipment of around 600,000 for europe (Ive assumed a launch quantity of 2m) To be honest i'd expect something more around 1million units in the US. If they dont reach at least 2mil at launch i'm intrigued to know how they think they will ship 2mil+ in the space of a month.

Just wondering what's happened to the VG+ crew on here? I thought some of you guys had a decent relationship with one of the employees there......I only ask as we're 10 days from launch and there's been no allocations info or anything.
Are people now just resigned to not getting one at launch (i'm defo feeling that way now as my day 1 order through DVDBO hasn't been enough).????
