Remember Im talking about what was said compared to what is now. A lot of emphasis has been given to the fact you dont point at the sensor bar... you point at the screen as you naturally would and the controller does its magic. Its only since E3 this year and the 'reliability' issues experienced that the talk of the sensor bar position has been only above or below the TV. Some of it may have been speculation from journalists but they must have got the info from somewhere originally.
Just to illustrate from a piece on IGN fom Sept 2005
"The remote-like peripheral, which has been called the "free-hand style controller" and "pointer" by Nintendo, interacts with a sensor bar placed above, below, or near televisions. The bar contains two sensors that communicate with the controller using Bluetooth technology."
Compare that to the language in a piece post E3
"The sensor bar that interacts with the Wii-mote must be placed "above or below" the television set. The bar itself is about 20 centimeters in length and features two sensors, one on each end"
Its pretty obvious that more emphasis has been placed on the sensor bar position the more its been tested and the closer to final specification.
Anyway completley off topic...Last edited by gibbon; 14-11-2006, 19:16.

Just called a mate of mine to ask him if he wanted to go out at the weekend.... how suprised was I when he said 'this call may be costing a bit, i'm on a building looking across central part'. Cue much calling him rude names as it seems he's just decided to pack his bags and bugger off to NYC for 9 days (got there today).
I was wondering what the chances of him being able to pick up a Wii on launch day are? Or if there's anything decent that's worth him picking up?

He's spoilt for choice for places to try in NYC. Sears, Best Buy, Wal Mart, FAO Schwarz, Toys R Us. I'd have him try those places rather than wasting time with a small outlet like an EB Games or anything.
Or if there's anything decent that's worth him picking up?... worth a shot.

I had read that Nintendo World's allocation would be similar to any extra large branch of Best Buy and the like. It seems logical they?d get an enormous amount though really, though of course with that in mind it would seem the most obvious shop in NY that many gamers might choose to descend upon to get one. The store in NY stopped taking pre-orders last I read, but they did claim they'd have enough to go round on Sunday. Whether they do or not remains to be seen, but Necronomicon's mate is certainly spoilt for choice of places to look out there. I'd say there's a strong chance he'd be able to find one somewhere.

Plus I also emailed them and got no reply. I really want to give them my money now!
