US Wii: Preorder Details Thread

Well with Liksang I pre-ordered around May/June time so *fingers crossed*. Plus, they offer US as well as JPN consoles as someone said above. Things should be ok. I will probably pre-order elsewhere too just because I am able to cancel the LikSang order IF something goes wrong. VG+ pre-orders going up Thursday was it?

Well from my previous experience, if you ask them politely they usually knock some off for you. People ordering with VG+ will get hit by customs too so its hard to wriggle out of.

When i got my DS from VG+ i never got hit for customs. I'm sure they marked the package down as a gift etc.

I think i'll get the machine from VG+ and the games from tronix with their fed ex service. I've never been hit by customs from them either.

Sounds like a plan... I must admit I've found VG+ a bit unpredictable in the past... some games taking 2 days to come, some taking 2 weeks... admittedly not really their fault, more their choice of postal service. But games perhaps are better coming from Tronix or NCSX.

At what rate? The last info we got from them was that it was going to be 'not before Thursday' whats made you change your mind?

Because before they said start of the week most likely, and now they are saying not before Thursday, so it doesnt seem likely that it will be Thursday... Whats wrong with not expecting it straight away?

I'll be getting games from Tronix for definite as with my PSP, the games came 2 days before my PSP did so I know they fast fast fast.

I hope pre-orders do start tomorrow. Ever since I seen the Wiimote last year I have been waiting for this system. Two months or so and I will hopefully have one. May even place two preorders just to make sure.

A question. The Wii is up for preorder now on dvdboxoffice but when I added it they added $160 postage. Crazy price but then I was wondering is that a similar price to what VG+ would charge? I'm not expecting ?3 delivery but not ?80 either. What should I realistically expect?

Ahh, I just pretened to buy a 360 from VG+ and postage was ?50 and seeing as the Wii should weigh half the 360 the postage can't be as crazy as DVDboxoffice.

I just pre-ordered but then emailed them and said if that price is correct then I want them to cancel my order!!

Yeah I was clicking away getting the order in did a double take. I've never imported anything this big but if ?80 postage is what it takes I'll have to take it. I don't want to pay UK import shop prices or go the eBay route after launch. Saying that though, even with this postage it's less than ?200 then tax but it's still worth it.

That postage seems more than a bit steep to me (can't see the Wii weighing the same as a 360 as that's a heavy beast all in).

On a related note I wouldn't go back to DVDBO after their service hit the skids a while back. They used to be great, now most people tend to avoid them.

The DVDboxoffice shipping works out at less if you change it to US dollars before ordering for some reason, $331.90USD (around ?175) in total.

I've taken a chance and ordered with them, God knows why as I don't exactly expect it from them that quickly judging by past orders but I've got to order two Wii's anyway as my mate wants one so I'll order with VG+ also and he can have whatever Wii arrives second
