Haha, I know. PAL Nintendo owners are either suckers for punishment or delusional

If the reaction towards the Wii from my mates is anything to go by, there won't be a problem getting one on release day. It also sounds like Nintendo will have more to go around anyway as in many ways they're not facing half the battle that MS did with getting 360s ready.

David Yarnton has told Eurogamer that Nintendo Europe won't be discussing stock numbers with retailers until mid-October, which says one thing to me: they'll see how many machines the US and Japan want before they decide how many to send our way

I'm glad I'm on the first five of the list at my local Game Station. The assistant told me my local is the most popular in the region and always get the biggest allocations of everything, so I'm feeling pretty safe.

What reaction to the Wii have your mates had then ? No offence but are they chavs ? lol
As its only closed minded people like that who won't try something different and unique like the Wii, and will just stick to the so called cool PS3 or 360 brands through fear of straying to far from the flock of sheep they belong to. The same kind of people who wouldn't be seen dead with any other mp3 player but the ipod ! lol You know what i mean.

It's been reasonably diseminated so far that the US is likely to get half of the 4 million Wii units on launch. So what proportion for Europe do you think? Between 500,000 and 800,000 probably.

What you said above is such a cliche. A bit like the Wii is for the kids only.

so bearing in mind yesterdays statment about stock levels not being discussed with euro retailers until october when do we expect the big online boys like game & gameplay to start taking pre-orders ?

hmv as stated are taking orders so are probably taking a flyer on levels they will receive.

They just don't seem interested tbh, they think the novelty will wear off pretty quickly and are waiting to see what sort of games come out for it in the long term. The graphics aren't a big issue for them, but most of them already have a handheld which gives them some different and quirky games. Now I'm not sure if that's representative of the current Sony generation in the mass market, which is why its going to be really interesting to see how well the Wii sells.

Just because something is incredibly popular, doesn't mean its a crap product, but just as with the mp3 market where the iPod has a huge share, so Nintendo and MS have to persuade the average punter that the PS3 isn't worth waiting for and to buy something from them instead. Like I say, really interesting times ahead.

Isn't that a bit obvious?? It's not often something terrible sells really well

The GC launched with 500,000 and there were no stock shortages (despite to that date it being the fastest selling hardware ever in the UK) We should be fine for Wii, Nintendo seem to always get enough hardware units out at launch.

i agree they are usually fine with launch numbers but we normally come anything from 6 months to a year after the rest of the world, they've never done a near simultaneous launch before.

will really show how serious they are about europe being key to them.
