its a few inches bigger. not a big deal really just its bigger than i thought it would have been from the pics i've seen. not saying OMG ps3 giant crab killa or nothing, just saying its bigger than i thought it would be(seen as people in japan didn't like the size of the xbox1 and the ps3 is about the same size?)

PS3 does have internal PSU mind, so that can account to the few inches extra space.

I much prefer external PSU's, smaller console and PSU can just be tucked down the back anyway.

had a go on the PS3 for the first time today (and saw the CEX ****e standard-def unit....rofl)

they seem to have made the pad from cheaper materials - it looks like a 3rd party PS2 pad!

i love the weight and the wireless though, feels perfect in the hand.

And ridge racer is awsome - i want one of these things now...but must. wait. for. 1080p projector.

Finally got around to seeing the PS3 running @ CEX Rathbone Place (West End).

Dreadful TV display, and I might be wrong but it looks like they're letting customers play on it with what looks like a PS2 Dualshock - the SIXAXIS is only on display next to the actual console (Can someone confirm/correct this?).

Game Focus on Charlotte Street has a PS3 running Ridge Racer 7 on what looks like a HD Display, but for demo purposes only.

The SIXAXIS pad would last about 45 seconds before some grubby gypo nicked it.

it sure would. also it'd mean having someone standing there next to said 'gypos' to make sure they don't run off with it. of course the argument as to whether it's really a big deal of a member of staff had to put down their comic/McDonalds/whatever to do that is another thing altogether.

i took my component cable to harrow cex but their hd-ready monitor looks like it takes a component signal over vga only so we were stuck and i lost interest anyway mainly cos i can only enjoy ridge racer for about 5 minutes a week

Ah, but the good part of it all is that while everybody - including the staff - are busy slavvering over the PS3, I nipped downstairs and scooped up Bubble Bobble for the PS1 for a bargainous ?2. Ironic really, given that they're still trying to sell about 50 copies of Sonic / Sonic 2 for the Megadrive for ?3 apiece!

Someone please tell me how CEX have Dual Shock 2's wired up to the 20gb to play RR7 in Rathbone?

That's exactly what I have wondered.

                          Answers on a postcard, please...

a usb converter, that's all it is. the PS3 works with those regular ones you buy for the pc apparently (the ones that work without a driver - just using the windows HID drivers), so saturn pads-a-go-go it seems!

they're regular 3rd party ones, nothing official, and they just work. you of course lose the PS button functionality but otherwise it's just fine.

                            and no 360 pads, sorry!
