Right - has anyone had this then? A mate of mine got a PAL one at launch, and he's been perfectly happy with it - but something odd happened the other day. He decided to try the GameCube backwards compatibility and popped in Sega Soccer Slam, which crashed the machine on load - as in completely locks it up (yank power cord out of the back etc) every time he tries to boot it. His game like the machine is PAL.

Wondered if anyone else had backwards compatibility issues?

Nope. I tried PAL Soccer Slam with my Wii just five minutes ago and it works like it should. Does your friend's disc have scratches? I have understood that Wii is less tolerant of them than Cube was.

Regarding the Zelda TP screen artifacts - I have also noticed those harsh gradients/banding on my Sony crt using the pack-in composite cable. I believe they're a bi-product of low color depth (16bit) which would also explain the pretty obvious dithering as well. Wind Waker exhibited similar IQ problems. I think Wii games are still confined to the 3mb framebuffer of the GameCube.

Not sure - I'll check with him - good to know that it works - thanks for that!

Probably not an issue at all really, but has anyone else noticed that once you actually load a Wii disk is takes over 10 seconds before it's icon shows up in the game channel and you can start it?

Seems like quite a long time and even though the games load run and I haven't had crashes I was wondering if it's normal...

Here's another little weird thing... Has anyone else noticed that sometimes the nunchuk controller loses its centring? Particularly in Zelda, sometimes Link will start walking constantly in one direction, as if I was pressing the joystick that way. The only way I've managed to reset it is to unplug the nunchuk from the Wiimote, and plug it back in again. Has only really happened to me about three times in as many weeks, so is pretty rare considering the time I've put in on the Wii...

Not a big deal, but wondered if anyone else has seen the same thing?

I've been getting this quite alot. However I've not been able to resolkve it - at first I thought it was the controller - but it would appear not. I'll try and unplug the nunchuk.

Only thing i can think of...

When you plug it in dont press the stick or it sets that as the neutral position so when you let go he will start running on his own.

It used to happen with my wavebird & N64 pads too.

Wonder if theres a reset button combo like there used to be on the N64 pads.

Nope, the nunchuk will be happily centred for an hour or so while I'm playing Zelda, but all of a sudden will jump out of alignment with seemingly no cause... Very weird! I'm wondering if the connection between the Wiimote and the nunchuk might be a little loose, so every so often it thinks it's unplugged while I'm pressing in one direction...

Remote just stopped responding after I finished playing Sonic the Hedgehog on Virtual Console. Wouldn't work again till I pulled the power cable from the console and plugged it back in again.

I've had a few lock ups when leaving channels to go back to the main menu. My remotes sometimes decide to play invisible man as well. Could it be Wiiconnect as you never know when it's doing its thing.

A great console but a bit buggy at the mo.
