I dislike the slot loader on the Wii because every time I eject a disc and remove it - and I do it carefully by the way - the slot loader always leaves behind some marks on the disc.ft:

Finding it very sad to hear so many problems on the Wii front - Nintendo have always had such a good reputation in building bullet proof hardware. Having said that I am from the SFC era when they were built to withstand a direct nuclear hit...

Still stuck in a time warp to be honest - having 'moving parts' in a console was always a bad idea IMHO.

I'll make sure I post the outcome of my complaint letter to the Nintendo UK MD's office, as I'm asking for my return postage back in amongst complaining about the lack of email response and long/engaged call queues. I wouldn't expect Codestorm, who run the service centre, to offer anyone a refund of postage as they're just another outsourced service company, who will definately not want to incur loss of revenue on Nintendo's behalf. Me personally, I think owners with doa consoles or faulty within 28 days should get their postage back. Even Game have a freepost address for returns FFS! (which I would have used had the supply of consoles to retailers not been so dire), my bad for assuming Nintendo Service Centre would have a supply of consoles for replacement purposes.

I've had another wonderful twist in my broken Nintendo Wii saga, nothing to do with Nintendo this time though. I sent the Wii yesterday using Special Delivery (£7.40 so not too bad). Filled out the form at the post office, handed over parcel + form + money, they stuck on all the labels and handed my back my special delivery slip. Stuffed it in my wallet and walked off.

Well when I was getting some cash out this morning I saw the slip and noticed that it seemed to be a bit longer than normal... low and behold, there's part of the label still attached to the slip which hadn't been torn off and stuck on to the parcel by the bloke in the post office! Quickly went home, typed in the Special Delivery number on the tracking web site, no details came up

I'm hoping that it'll still get there but I'm sure there's going to be a load of arsing about because of this. Maybe I should have checked the SD slip in the post office, but I've sent a ton of parcels the exact same way before and they've never forgotten to put part of the label on! Luckily the slip has been properly stamped by the PO, so if my Wii does go missing I should be able to get something out of them compensation wise.

I love it when everything is such plain sailing

Strangely enough I get the weird borders thing on the internet ... Hopefully that'll be fixed in the final version.

ever sincei put my wii on component.... the picture looks less roundish on characters (IE: Link has rough edges on him) is that normal?

Also... when browsing the internet browswer on the Wii... when scrolling down the picture jumps for half a second each time yous croll down.

Also... earlier today I played Zelda fine, then all of a sudden games couldnt be read!! Suddently,a fter putting Excite Truck in.. it started working again.

                    Hm....

I had a problem earlier today similar to yours Lyris. I was playing Zelda and the drive was making a lot of noise, like it was struggling to access the disc. When i entered new areas in zelda it was taking 15/20 seconds to load the new area rather than the usual 5 seconds. I've since played it again and the wii sounds normal and the game is loading properly once more. The only other game i've played on Wii is WiiSports, which i haven't had any problems with (so far).

Has anyone else experienced a similar problem to this? I'm hoping this is a one-off.

Little tip after all my fun with them:

Call 02392 383999 and ask for them to transfer you to the nintendo service centre.

Just sent my wii off. Cost me ?7.40 for special delivery.

I included a letter saying that I'll be wanting my money back but I don't expect much to come of it. Ill wait till my wiis returned then try and contact nintendo uk themselves about the postage. They shouldn't be allowed to get away with this sort of ****.

That could well be the result of the games outputting in progressive instead of interlaced now you've got the better cable.

Or even if your TV was showing less detail on Composite video than is possible, you'll have had a blurring effect.

Not sure where to post this .. but it seems for those with a PAL Wii you got an OS update available - 2.1E. No clue what it does.

No news on an update for NTSC-Wiis.
