Does the japenese version of the Official Nintendo Wii Component Cable work on a US Wii? There's no "region-lock" on that? I'm thinking about ordering one from Play-Asia. Will probably not have it before next year, though, I don't have an HDTV now anyway, but would be nice to have one when I get an HDTV.

dude, it's a cable.... how they'd manage to put a region lock in something such as that would be ridiculous

They technically could by changing the pin configuration, but it'd be more hassle for Nintendo than it was worth and they wouldn't be able to easily source cables from anywhere in the world in case of a shortage.

Well I ordered mine at the weekend from Playasia and got a notice saying they are the preparing order today.................christ knows how long that will take though ?

Just so you know, that doesn't mean anything. My order went straight through to 'preparing order' last Wednesday and just sat there. Only the people who ordered ages ago ever got theirs shipped - its doubtful they actually have any in stock at the moment.

Yesterday it was 'Searching our suppliers'

I've just bought one from Ebay for ?35 plus ?1.50 p&p, from the UK!!
Should be here in the next couple of days.

I might have a spare one from Yes Asia (which i'll sell at face value) as I don't think they'll let me cancel my order so late.
