I've had my component lead for just over a week, how are people saying theres not much difference! I think it looks superb!

Sharp, crisp and clear - although it does have a few jaggies - i'll post some pics, via my dodgy N73 camera!

Yep. The missus is checking around town at the moment to see if there are any about, but if not there's plenty on eBay at the moment for around ?30 - I'll be going for one of those.

The JPNgames next day delivery was only an extra ?3, so for ?42.99 all in it didn't seem too bad.

Well, that's a lie. I resent having to pay a large premium for a cable to let me get any visual enjoyment out of a new (and supposedly "cheap") console. Bah!

My eBayed cable finally arrived today. It's been a long, long wait, but finally I can wave goodbye to smear-o-vision.

Don't expect wonders though, the Wii is always going to struggle to match Xbox 1 level visuals, let alone 360 or PS3. The system's GPU is just too primative, for example, it's incapable of rendering normal maps. Try and find a 360 or PC game that doesn't use normal maps on EVERY surface... They're as standard as diffuse and specular maps now.

In my opinion the best bet for Wii developers is to go the stylised route. Monkeyball, Wii Sports, No More Heroes, Wind Waker, that type of thing.

Actually, that's rubbish! Resident Evil 4 is testament to how good the Gamecube hardware can look, which is on a par with most Xbox 1 titles. If the Wii is a souped up Gamecube then producing something as good looking as Resi 4 must be possible.

Whether developers outside of Capcom are capable is another matter....

Actually no. One of the biggest misconceptions about Cube's GPU is how it did work and what you could do with it. It's true that it doesn't have pixel shaders in most traditional sense. Instead it has TEV Pipeline that can do pretty much everything that Xbox's nV2A could do. Unfortunately, TEV is pretty exotic and nearly all 3rd parties never used it beyond most basic applications. One example of seldom used features was bump mapping, that only Factor 5 used in its Rogue Squadron games. I don't remember any other title that would have used it.

Agreed - the stylised route is the way to go. What I was saying however is that Metriod 3 and Mario Galaxies are a a good testiment to what the true graphical power of the Wii is, rather then Zelda being what people point to.

Did yours arrive special delivery? I missed a special delivery yesterday that's now at the depot, & was just wondering if it's the cable.
