excellent news.
i never finished 8 yet, but playing final fantasy 3 on the DS was lovely. spending a few minutes here and there, or random levelling up whislt doing something else was great, and i'm sure it will suit this too.
just a shame it'll be such a long way off.

This is superb news, absolutely loving the RPG love the DS is getting lately, true about the volumes, what was that stat that was banded around last week? 1 in 10 people in the uk or something have a DS? Take that to japan and your probably upping that i would have though to at least 1 in 3

Bloody hell, that's huge news. This isn't just some side story but the real sequel to what is, in Japan at least, possibly the biggest series of them all. You'd have thought that it would have gone to the PS3 without a second thought.

This really does look fantastic. I sold my launch DS here, but am so glad I'm getting another one at christmas now!

So hyped for this - DQ8 was absolutely incredible, and if those 2 small screenshots of the game on IGN are anything to by, this looks like it'll keep the momentum up.

I can see why they want to put it on DS, but it really suprised me, you usually expect these games on home consoles.

Played number 8 thru whilst I was laid up from a complication courtesy of the NHS, it was the best 14 days I've spent sofa bound ever!

No-one else a bit disappointed? I love my DS, don't get me wrong, but I think DQIX would just be so better on a home console, rather than the DS.

On the other hand, I do have every faith in Level 5 pulling it off!

I'm in 2 minds. I love my DS, but I also don't like long gaming sessions on a handheld. This is something I'd prefer on Wii I think.

I am slightly disapointed, but if it were FF then I would really be disapointed. FF is more about that flashy high budget graphical gameplay mixture :P

I would have preferred this on Wii but it being on DS does not bother me.
