I'd argue if they didn't have the cash they shouldn't have bought it in the first place !!

Thing is (and reason for thread) it seems a phenomenon unique to PS3 which given it's huge initial price seems weird - I've not seen anywhere near the same level of Wii sales or 360 for that matter (where people were selling body parts to get one for the first 6-8 weeks after launch).

I never thought the 360 would end up being my main console, The Wii will get played on over time when it comes to games like Mario Galaxy and Metroid. I had a 60 gig PS3 from VG+ but the confirmation of VF 5 on the 360 was another excuse for me to sell the PS3, I'd rather play all the multi format games on the 360 anyway because of Xbox Live and the achievements is also a nice touch. If MGS4 ends up coming out on the 360 then the temptation of getting another PS3 will totally go away.

            those comments contradict yourself

you state you saved hard all year but then you say you have loads of disposable income

but personally i wouldnt be willing to drop a couple of hundred quid if it was just down to the money factor

if however i wasnt that impressed with it - then i would have sold it

like i have in the past with other machines

Not sure you can put it down to early adopter problems - ie. lack of games. The PS3 will get a lot of multi-platform titles this year. Probably not many exclusives, but if PS3 is your only next-gen system that should be an issue.

Bear in mind that's just a search for the word PS3 which pulled in any thread which happens to have mentioned. It doesn't necessarily mean they were selling, but includes those who were after one as well.

Can't say I've seen the situation being noticeably different than with the 360 and Wii but then there's a bit of a difference here - the PS3 didn't get a worldwide launch (or near worldwide) so some people will have picked them up purely to sell for a profit (we're all fully aware of the modern day mentality of people trying to predict the next big thing so they can get rich quick).

TBH I think your question is the equivalent of `how long is a piece of string?`

Nah, there's been plenty of Wiis sold as well. Especially imported ones. Maybe not as many as there have been PS3s but there's been quite a few.

Good point Kubrick I guess but the wii was so much cheaper that (in console terms) I'd say it has that "impulse buy" thing going on - And to be fair the software line-up isn't exactly stellar (with obvious noteable exceptions).

I'd change the title to include wii but I can't !!

I sold one on here, but it was for my father, who bought it whilst on holiday in order to make a profit. Which he did.

                      Love my PS3 though, personally.

We are seeing more games going multi platform and less games going exclusive this gen.

Same here. Refuse to pay more than ?300 for one at the mo. Plus if PS2 playback is nob, I'll stick with my Jap slimline until it's sorted out.

thats true and it really annoyed me i was kind of hoping that with the wii being far less powerful and a different control method then that would not be the case......unfortunetly judging from the games so far thats not the case

also with the x360 how many people would have bought the x360 for oblivion if oblivion never came out for the PC

systems really need the exclusives.....and to be honest i dont really want to wait 5 months for each exclusive

I think that was bound to happen becuase of the rising cost of games production. Companies are spending vast amounts on games now its just commom sense that they will want to go multi-platform. It will end up being more damaging for Sony however, if they go on to lose MGS and DMC that more people that will surely consider just getting a 360.

I think Sony have got some major deals to get done otherwise MS and there cash will see more and more games coming there way.
