Sorry El, but it's a downwards slope from there. As soon as they start crashing like that they will eventually stop functioning at all.
Mine lasted about two weeks in this random crashing phase, then on Sunday it reached the point were it doesn't output any signal at all. 3 red lights, boo.
Anyway, more impressed with Xbox service this time - reported on Sunday, received an email from UPS yesterday morning with collection details and unit to be picked up today. Last time my 360 died it took three weeks before they picked it up!
I'm hoping now to have it back by the end of next week, which will be awesome. Hope to get a newer model rather than yet another launch model...

I'm getting fed up with calling them now.

My bro's would run multiplayer (ie less graphically intense) GRAW fine but wouldn't entertain the more graphically fancy single player mode !

Admittedly I wish I'd sent it back the first time it went wrong, but I'm pretty sure I got a new replacement from MS anyway and that's now busy sitting in a repair centre
You're lucky your died in warranty mate

So Microsoft are still taking back machines out of warranty? Doesn't that negate the point of going for the extended warranty (as advertised in the packaging)
Guess it would make more sense to go with Dixons instore extended warranty cos then you are guaranteed a brand new machine each time they fail. (And I am certain my new one will also break.)

Pete did they know the date of your original purchase. All they had on file with mine was the date they sent out my last replacement, so I just made up a random date which fell within the warranty period for my original purchase. Not sure if they ever have an original purchase date for your machine on their system, can't remember if the xbox.com reg asked for it.
I personally think on replacement machines you should get a new 12 month warranty, and I will argue that with them when this one blows up.

Yeah they had my whole history, dates and times of each call to their support, plus serial numbers of each unit.
I agree you should get an extra warranty when they replace faulty hardware. I've never known a console to be so unstable - two different units in a year PLUS costing me £70 for repair is a bit of a joke. I argued the point, and sent her off to her supervisor, but they wouldn't budge.
