Just moved my 360 into the a/v unit, after drilling out the back of it to increase ventilation.
Turned it on with the a/v unit door closed to see if there is much noise reduction, and it seems there is an update.
Did that, the machine rebooted, hung on the opening 'xbox 360' screen, now i have the 3rrod, again.
What's my options? (US machine, modified*)
Buy a new one?
*not flashed, just a few mods, such as led's, x-clamps, and the wind tunnel thing.

Well my 360 has just given up... Its no longer reading discs...
Ive just about had it with modern consoles for good...
All they are is a collection of **** parts combined into a box. What ever happened to companies using reliable parts for a games console?
I wont be buying another 360, until they start appearing at car boot sales for cheap as to be quite honest, im fed up of getting screwed over. My first Xbox has a near non functional laser, my original PS2 laser burnt out too... Seriously.... Its just not on.
When will these companies learn that the cheaper parts you put inside, means they will break easily...
I keep reading about people saying 'Oh im on my 6th 360 now, however that one too has started to do this n that'
Stop being such a sucker and accept that M$oft is conning you!
Ive heard good things about the build of the PS3, however I shall wait a bit longer...
If im honest, there wasnt many games I even played on the 360... GTAIV bored me within days, I dont care about all these FPS games (which are ALL the same bar Halo) and Im fed up of Chav Racing games where you need to impress sluts at the side of the road with your bling bling alloy wheels n neons...
All i ever played was Eternal Sonata and PES2008...
I have sat near me my Mega CD, 3DO, FM Towns Marty, Amiga CD32, Neo Geo CD.... Theyre god knows how many times the age of the 360 yet theyve all been played alot more and still read discs like theyre new systems.

I feel bad. I'd recommended a mate get a 360 quite some time ago. He bought a Premium around Xmas. Took it home, it was dead out of the box. So he took it back, and got an Elite instead as he was told they were more reliable. That died at some point, so he got another.
Just got a photo text of him, his second Elite has just RROD.
Apparently, the some of the new 60gb models in the US have the memory only soldered on one side or something, which may help (I don't know??). No sign of the 65nm GPU yet though.
