360 Issues thread

    So, five days to Christmas and my second 360 decides to pack up. Brilliant. Decided to start playing Mass Effect again, and it crashes a minute into playing. It then crashed mid boot up and now won't get a picture at all. Now, three red flashing lights.

    I'm trying to decide weather it's worth sending back to microsoft and wait or just getting a new one, upgrade to an elite or something (and sell the other one if microsoft honour the 3 year warrenty.)

    Either way looks like wii is going to win christmas by defult.

      At least you got the 3 red lights. The drive has failed twice on mine and with the warranty seal broken I'll be lucky if MS will repair it for cash let alone nothing.

        Just phoned up and they've agreed to repair it for free. Now I either wait or use this to upgrade. Considering buying an Arcade pack from Gamestation and a 120GB from work. Will be cheaper than buying an elite with all the same benifits. Only problem is I was kicked out of my local gamestation last time as I work for their competion.

          Well, got my launch premium back after 9 working days which is good. Apparently the motherboard failed. I wish they'd give more detailed information! Anyway they did it for free even though it was not a RROD issue and sent me a 1 month gold live card. Let's see how long it lasts!

            Or (not that I would recommend this but) you could do what I did. Look at the release schedule for the last 12 months pick a big selling game and then go into your local gamestation or game tell them you lost your receipt and would like a duplicate tell them you bought the 360 with said game and they will give you a new receipt so you can take it back to a different store or that one

              Ok this is beyond a sick joke now

              X-Box number 4 needs to be replaced, thanks to Half-Life not working at all, Darkness and VF5 thinking my 360 is a DVD player and that I need to put the games into a X-Box 360 and my DVD making a nose like its going to take off.



              This is ****ing sh8t . Anyone know the best place to get a good deal on a X-Box elite?

                Why does it need to be replaced? Will MS not repair it for you? Yours seems to be exhibiting the same problems mine is I have Mass Effect thinking my 360 is a DVD player too. Pissed me right off as I'd just started to get into it.

                Ah well, I'm not exactly short of xmas entertainment - plenty of PS3 games to be starting up, and my brand new Wii complete with SMG, Zelda, Paper Mario, Brain Academy and Wii Sports.

                  Well this was the repaired console that MS sent me 3 weeks back, I think its say to say it ****ed .

                  How MS can get away with this sh8t I do not know

                    1.) Failed to fix issue
                    2.) Scratched 360 in transit
                    3.) Power Button doesn't work properly now
                    4.) Sent old game, and charged more in TOLL than it would be new.

                    The replacement machine is now started to fail. Classic "Hang" in game, on COD4 and Mass Effect. No problems using the same DVD and Hard Disk on my Elite.

                    Looks like I'm on for machine 4 then.

                      Why all this talk of upgrading to an Elite? Its the same piece of **** hardware you already have, but in black FFS!

                        I was told by MS that they "Don't send new machines" and that I should call the shop and under Norsk law they must replace it as it's gone wrong 4 times with the same issue. (DVD drive)

                        In full respect to the shop, they did exactly that today, and swapped it out for a new one.

                        The new premium is a 2006 model, with Hitachi drive, but hey, it works.

                        6 360's in 2 years.....

                            Rings of Death on Christmas day for me. Lovely. This was on my, up till now, perfect second machine.
                            Thing is its 1 year and 8 days old. I got away with it last time by 6 days.

                              175Watt means you have the new 65nm GPU/CPU which requires less cooling.

                              Very noisy means either

                              1.) You haven't owned a 360 before, and hence don't know how lucky you are

                              or

                              2.) You didn't get a BenQ DVD, and the the noisy Hitachi.

                                I might pick up a 2nd machine while waiting for the broken 360 to return. Is there anyway of checking which machine you're getting before you get it home or is just a lucky dip?
                                Does it say on the box? Do shops allow you to open it all up before you buy?
