360 Issues thread

Mine arrived back today. New console but not HDMI annoyingly. Played Half Life 2 for a bit, crashed a few times but seems ok now I've updated.

Will be getting some loving tonight and over the next few evenings.

New Console Received: 13th November 2007
New Console Dies: 16th January 2008

I want to laugh, but it's really not funny.

At least I have my Wii and Mario etc.

was it definately a new machine rather than a refurb? With any luck they'll give you some free stuff with the replacement.

Uh oh. I remember mine was repaired and returned around the same time as yours Believeddog so this has me concerned.

Then again, I've barely touched mine since before Christmas except for the odd game of Guiatr Hero 3 recently.

That probably is the most shocking post on this thread, all the "My 2nd/3rd/4th 360 just died" posts just aren't shocking any more...unfortunately!

My Elite very rarely gets switched on now to be honest, it's usually because there is some free stuff available so I'm really hoping this will be my last 360 as if I need to send away for a 3rd replacement it'll get traded in as soon as it's returned to me.

My wife did suggest get a replacement and selling it to get a ps3 instead....but Mass Effect etc are waiting patiently for me so that's not ever going to be an option. The Xbox 360 is a fantastic games machine....when it works.

JUst got a new falcon in the hope it will play Halo 3, but no dice its the HDD thats at fault so its a 120gb and a transfer as i do not want to loose all my data

well my dvdrom drive won't reconise any discs now.......this seems to be a common problem reading this thread.

A question -does everyone normally keep their hard drives & send off the 360 sans hdd? I don;t want to lose all of my sves, downloads etc if they decide to replace my machine with a new one.

Conversely I bought from Gamestation in Dec 06 so just over a yr old - would they swap it over for me?

1. The only reason they'd need the hard drive would be if it was the source of the problem. Usually this isn't the case, so keep hold of it.

2. The only way to find out if GS will take the console back is if you ask them. They are not legally obliged to take it back, but they may do it as a good will gesture.

I'm buying a 360 soon and could anyone tell me what numbers/models I should look for on the box for a 65nm machine with BenQ drive?

BenQ is the better drive isn't it? And 65nm the latest model?

Thanks for that. So for example am I looking for '0745' and 'FDOU' to be on the box? Also do all the BenQ drive models have 65nm? Because I can't see it in the chart.
