Just read on the Shopto forum a post from a moderator there, responding to people moaning...

The stock only arrived at the warehouse at approx 9.30 (Sat 20 Nov) this morning.
The processing and packing will be running ALL day til somewhere into the evening.
None of the stock will be/has been passed to Royal Mail today.
The release date is still Weds 24/11 so irrespective of a store in France selling it, Sony is only today shipping stock to many etailers, so the process of getting the stock in, processing preorders and packing them, means no stock can be passed to Royal Mail until Monday at the earliest.
By all means take a trip across the channel if you are that desperate to pick up a copy.Last edited by hudson; 20-11-2010, 22:27.

That is nice but I`ve yet to see any cars look that good in game. Some of the models transfered from previous GT games look awful.
Done my A and B tests at last. Working my way through the races.
The AI is shocking at times, despite being on the racing line going down a straight some of the AI cars will snake tail you to get back on the line.
But its a GT game and I`m more than happy.

Would be interested to see the "awful" car models too, if you can take or find a pic off the net?

I'm not surprised if some cars look kind of 'off' as you'll likely also face off against standard models. I am not fond of the inclusion of standards because you'll inevitably get graphical inconsistencies that way. I would be happy with just the 200 Premiums, its still way more than GT1 and GT3 which also were the first of their generation.
Check this Kart race by the way:

Their excuse is that those Premium cars have pretty sick detail right down to the interior. Judging from Photo mode, those can even easily be used for a possible Ps4 GT game. Forza might have 400 cars, but not one of them is as detailed as GT5 Premium. So if you go by realism then GT5 has 200 and Forza has 0.
You can't expect Polyphony to model a full 1000 cars like that. That being said, the standards still look on par with other racers of this generation. Thats because most racers with a big car roster actually take last-gen renders. Thing is that Polyphony's own creations exceed those old renders by quite a margin and thus created inconsistencies for themselves.
They could've added these 1000 cars als standards, give them all basic cock pits and everyone would be happy as only enthusiasts will notice the smallest of details.

That it takes a lot of time, effort and money to model each car to their premium standards.
I wonder how different the hype machine would've been if they had no premium cars of this quality and all of them were standards. I saw a video of standard GT5 cars and it looked fine to me but it was a little YT video so I didn't count on in-game inconsistencies.
Personally, I just want the bloody game now. There have been a few posts by people saying they'd prefer it if the game was delayed so it could be even more perfect but I think they should just do GT6 with more premiums.
