1 - I'd like to extend that to all of the QTE's in Fahrenheit. None of them felt like you were reacting to what was happening on the screen. Bah. Overrated game were you to ask me...so I guess that one doesn't count.

2 - The last boss of Gears of War. A perfect difficulty level all the way through, then BAM! A piss-poor boss design that I died over 20 times on, never once finding a reliable tactic. I've just mowed down a huge army with relative ease, why should this chump be such a problem?

3 - The tri-force finding moments of Wind Waker. They knackered what could have been the best Zelda ever.

4 - Forbidden Siren: Most of it. Though I still think it's an utterly wondrous game.

    Eeee....good topic!

I got put off by Siren due to the lack of subtitles... not that I'm hard of hearing in any way, but obviously your relative distance from the person talking lowers the volume somewhat, plus it's easy to miss what they say as a result.

It was beautiful and atmospheric at the beginning of the 4th disc but that long walk with Shen Hua with the repeating scenery and dull boring conversation that had little to do with the main storyline was terrible. There was very little gameplay from then on as well.

I also agree about the stealth in Farenheit but it went downhill for me earlier, about the time I realized that the game was going to rely heavily on QTEs. Very unimaginative.

Most recently Enchanted Arms - Press A to do everything & the TOYA characters supremely irritating voice!
The rest of the game so far is great & refreshing as I have not played any game of this genre since Phantasy Star 2!

Halo 3 - The last level completely uninspiring and unchallenging, tbh the whole single player left me feeling a little low? The multi-player I hated with such a passion with the previous games yet now its the only sing grace!

Gears of war - What everyone else has mentioned! Especially as when I actually killed the last boss, it skanked me out of the achievement for his destruction but gave me the achievement for completing the level!
So I had to do it again!!!!

I actually really enjoyed the first level, I thought it was wonderfully low-key and atmospheric. It introduced the 'feel' of the game quite slowly and nicely without revealing quite how mad things get later into the game. But in gameplay terms, it is pretty pedestrian, I must admit.

One of my major disappointments was at the end of Deus Ex when it turned from this truly brilliant, stealthy RPG/FPS into a totally gunplay-led, boring, crappy, predictable Roswell-style scenario. Unless I could've got a different ending(???)

Not going to labour it but the fairly obvious Halo 3 and Half Life levels.

I can't remember what her name was but that Russian bint in Goldeneye that you had to lead to safety while she aimlessly wandered around in a vodka stupor in front of the bad guys who were shooting machine guns at me. Two minutes of that and I was capping her head myself!

That inane, pointless chatter in Full Spectrum Warrior in the middle of a battle. I can't remember specifics but something along the lines of:
"I think I've just had both my legs shot off, that'll probably sting a bit tomorrow".

The whole idea of hiding items in almost every single bloody pebble, blade of grass and log in the Blue Dragon world!!!

I thought the general design of Gears of War was pretty lazy. Every time Jack got involved you had to do exactly the same thing - fight off enemies that rather conveniently turn up when he starts to open the door.
And the Berserkers. Terrible in my opinion, the controls of the game (which I thought were a bit clunky anyway) were completely unsuitable for the Berserker parts.
And everything else that's been said about it.

Hmm, there's a few standout rubbish moments in Halo 3 for me. The combat for a start. And the level design. And the multiplayer.

                      Hmmmmmm.

Most of RE4 - Yes i dont care about what people say i found the game to be rather irritating in alot of parts and just average for the rest. One of the Most overated games ever? Yes imo.

Whole MGS series - Now i appriciate the well directed cut scenes and the overall production values of the MGS games.
However what i find really really rubbish is just how convoluted and up its own arse the story and the dialog is, coupled with the fact you have to sit through hours of the crap.

FF7 - I adore this game overall but the flashback section in Kalm Inn is just the most boring section of gaming ever, they knew it was so boring and long that they put an option to save half way through the damn thing.

That bit in Tomb Raider Legend where you have to

get the bell to smash through the doors.

Tedious, cumbersome and totally infuriating. You know you're about to

                        meet a mega boss

, why postpone it with this pot of otters?

eeee Ajay, if I was with you now and you said that about RE4, you'd get bludgeoned with that bottle of Wonkey Donkey!

The Shadow Temple in Zelda: Ocarina of Time. I didn't really mind the Water Temple (though its often complained about), but I thought the Shadow temple was a bit lame with its horrible muddy green/brown hue.

Yuk! That game was terrible. It was almost as though it was designed badly on purpose! Don't even get me started on the needlessly obtuse menu system...

Legacy of Kain - the menu system that required loading. Great game but you needed to change equipment a lot and it went through loading time every time you did it.

Heehee, fair enough! I totally understand as it's an easy game to hate.

Not that I'm trying to get you started, but I guess you're talking about the timeline/stage select menu? Coupled with the fantastic item archive, I personally thought it was genius. Playing an initially baffling level only for it to make total sense when unlocking a level earlier in the timeline...awesome. I love how you have to piece the plot together, rather than it being spelled out to you. People rave about Half-Life and the like having good stories, yet Forbidden Siren is one of the only games that tells a story in a manner unique to videogames.

But yes, sometimes it is HORRIBLE to play.
