2008- Great year for PS3 owners?

An entirely different discussion mind, but I personally feel the depth to controlling the vehicles inh Wipeout i.e. they're not glued to the floor made me feel a lot more skillful when taking them out to race (provided I raced well ). I like F-Zero too. I actually think they're quite different apart from being futuristic and having the odd loop d'loop track.

I just find the racing experience in WipeOut to be quite dull but I must admit I found it quite hard to get into it feels strange the way crafts turn. Perhaps I need to spend more time with it but again the desire to do so is never going to be strong enough. WipeOut = more simulated futuristic racer F-Zero = arcade master piece LOL

If you have a PSP, try Wipeout Pulse. It's sublime, and has hyped me for HD more than I think I can handle.

I think its sad we will never see a true F-zero GX sequel without wii-mote support thats why I am hyped for Wipeout HD, and have you seen the texture work on it !!

Do you have any details on what version it will focus on? as I understand it, its 2097 that people give the most respect..

I'm sure HD will look good enough but this has always been the case with WipeOut games, aside from the weak ports.

You never know they may put different control setups in although I doubt Mario Kart will. Still would love to see an online F-Zero..

Not a huge amount. I have to say I'm finding the first few grids of Pulse fairly forgiving, but they're obviously generally at the slower class speeds.

When you run some of the Zone events and start hitting Super Phantom speeds... well let's just say I've renamed that class Super Pinball.

They need to make sure they put up a trial version as well, so people like me who are not that sure can check it out - this is standard with Live Arcade & something I wish PSN would do also? Otherwise it would have been expensive to find out that games like todays Metal Slug 3 Live Arcade port is not that hot.

i'd like wipeout a lot more if there wasn't any weapons, but i'll definitely be giving the HD version a go. hopefully it wont be very expensive either.

really, i got the machine for gt5: prologue, and later (quite a lot later i believe) the full game. plus metal gear solid of course.

but since i've been looking in to it a bit more recently there is quite a few cool things coming up soon. everybodys golf (an english lanuage version) will definitely be had, along with devil may cry and the final fantasys whenever they are.
just the obvious stuff really, but thats 5 games in a year already (plus wii and 360 games too of course), and thats enough to make it worthwhile for me. i'm not even sure what else is coming up thats not really high profile, although the ferrari challenge game could be good.

I certainly hope it is a good year for PS3 - competition in the marketplace is good for all concerned.

I personally won't be buying a PS3 until it's dying days - giving me time to fully appreciate Wii/360 before grabbing the console at a bargain price along with all it's best titles. That is of course assuming it produces anything I want to play... So far only Uncharted has perked my interest.

On the OP's list only LittleBigPlanet is of interest and possibly Haze and Wipeout, non-exclusives excepted. The others are either in genres I don't care for or are, IMO, one sequel too far (MGS!) That being said, I haven't paid any attention to MGS4 hype, so I hope to be proved wrong.

GT5 - If they do it properly i will be interested. Dumb AI is a turn off though

Not enough to sway me into ownership this year then. Unless the instabuy FF7 remake comes out.

2007 was a great year for gamers and 2008 looks even brighter with the PS3 starting to produce some real quality titles.
