This is good news. Ancel is a brilliant games designer, I loved BG&E. His games are wonderfully Gallic, I really like it when games have a strong sense of origin like that.

So we're going to get BG&E2 around Christmas 2016, if we're lucky. I'll pencil it in as a game I'll anticipate playing sometime in 2018.

Ubisoft confirms that Ancel is indeed working on the new Beyond Good & Evil game with his team!

^ Interesting this, as it seems Ancel's already got one foot out of the Ubisoft door. Beyond Good and Evil is exciting news, finally properly sanctioned - I presume - by Ubisoft (instead of their 6 years-worth of hints) to keep him on after his fury over the Rayman Revolution 'outrage'. I'm equally excited to know what he's up to with his new independent studio though. Personally I think Ancel's too great a talent to be held to Ubisoft.

I'll watch what he does with interest, but I always get cynical with figures like him (many industry figures really) who are seen as "responsible" for certain games or series. It's different with indies where games are sometimes entirely made by 2-3 people, but with mainstream console games (even those on the fringe), they're made by large teams over a long period.

I think he is surround by very talented people, his games do share a certain feel and aesthetic.

He certainly is surrounded by very talented people. He employed lots of Disney hand-animators after they were sacked off, for example, in the rush to replace everyone with digital artists. Rayman Revolution is pretty much as good as 2D platformers get, in my view.

Teams have gotten bigger and bigger, no doubt, but it does take someone with some vision to pull it all together and make it work IMO. I'm a big fan of Ancel.

Don't think you mean Revolution Golgo that was the PS2 rerelease of Rayman 2.

Right you are, I meant 'Legends'. :/

With so much buzz generated by Shenmue 3's announcement and FF7 Remake, it seems answers have been sought about one of the other missing games but it sounds like bad news.

Michel Ancel is no longer working on BG&E2 and it doesn't seem like it's on the cards anymore.

Shame. Can't understand these mega-corporations, surely it wouldn't bankrupt them to ease off just a fraction of resources from the ass screed gravy-train to make this happen for the many fans who are passionate about it. Ah well...What is Ancel up to, anyone know?
