This is still the original, untouched (besided from a usual HD overhaul?

I've played that game like 3 times in my life, there used to be a cabinet over here but most attention went to Scud Race and Sega Rally.

I don't remember how it was though, except for that it had these small cars racing through monaco-ish resorts.

      *makes a custom made handbrake"

Was so awesome to play in the arcades, i dunno how it'll be without the hand brake gimmick though, thats why everyone played it after all!

Second Sixaxis as a handbrake... I wonder if that would work.

What was with that handbrake gimmick? I don't remember it.

Wait... the cabinet had an actual handbrake? Now that I think of it.. thats kind of special. Its usually no further than a manual gear stick :P

I can imagine that the game will be less powerful without, just as Hydro Thunder was on the consoles (without Throttle).

Yep. It was pretty essential for getting round some of the extra-tight corners too.

That would rock! They should release a plastic handbrake for it and the pad attaches to a bar! Instant handbrake!!

I love it that a 12 year old arcade game gets more love than most PS3 releases

I want Rave Racer next! I'll give my heart to sony if they release it

I hope GTI club is the first of a new trend. The 90's had great arcade games that were far ahead of the consoles and are still unreleased so far. Konami has lots of unreleased arcade games, most of them seem to be racing games by the way.

The same goes for Namco with Ace Driver, Rave Racer and Sega with Scud Race and such.

Sega Rally had a handbrake though. It's nothing new.
                      Kept you waiting, huh?

Speaking of Rave Racer, i don't get why people like it so much. I just thought it was Ridge Racer Revolution when i played it in the arcade. Can someone please correct me?

It pretty much is RRR. Nowt special really apart from better tracks. Plays exactly the same as t'others. I'm quite sure people always say about it because it wasn't released for the home and/or its l337 or sommat.

Sweeeeeeeet! How come Wiiware, PSN and XBLA seem to be where all the action is at atm?

How is that a bad thing? Ridge Racer Revolution is the best of the old generation of Ridge Racer games and Rave Racer was Namco pretty much perfecting the form. The track design is really some of the best Namco came up with with the wide open, fast City course allowing for high speed races with the far more technically demanding Mountain course offering some very tense duels (with the infamous 'drop' section for those who messed up.

You also get the classic Ridge Racer (1) track in there which is still one of the pinnacles of course design 15 years on.

The game was also the last iteration in the series to feature the trademark car designs and much brighter colour scheme that always made Ridge feel special to me before they went with a more muted, realistic, look with later games that I've never liked.

Add in the fact that it is the one game that never got a home conversion and that is why demand has always been there. I'd have gladly took a PSone (as in downgraded) port of Rave than the mess that was Rage Racer.

I'm a massive fan of the series and whilst I do feel V, 6 & 7 are all great games (I found the overall design and music in Rage and Type 4 to be poor) I do prefer the classic Ridge stylings of 2, Revolution and Rave.
