Stupid SE stick is playing up now. During a ranked match suddenly LT and RT stopped working (RT's hard kick). After the match I turned the machine off to check the wiring and noticed the guide light on the stick was still on so I unplugged it. When I plugged it back in it was working fine. Then just now it happened again.

Apparently it's happening to quite a few people (including TE stick owners).

I remember when people in the US complained about the dodgy joystick washer problem, the Mad Catz guy said they'd still sort it out even for people who'd opened up the stick and fiddled the washer.

Probably a better idea would be to just wire some 360 pad guts in there and be rid of all the Mad Catz nonsense circuitry...

probably the best thing to do although if you do you may as well also switch to a wireless one. That way it would be more worth while the trouble.

I was thinking that - apparently the Guitar Hero guitar is really good for controller modding and (and probably easy and cheap to get hold of, given the number of broken whammy bars!) as it has easy points to solder to and just one small rectangle board, and no analogue sticks and triggers to get in the way. The only problem is it's wireless. I'm not sure about the wired guitars if they, too, have good modding potential.

The problem with making the joystick wireless is I'd need to stick an AA battery socket on the outside for when the batteries run out, otherwise I'd have to keep unscrewing the base to change batteries, and the Mad Catz SE stick is really not designed to be opened and closed (the screws go through the rubber feet and after a few openings/closings, they've started going through the rubber feet).

I just had an idea to maybe mount a USB port on the case that connects internally to a usb AA battery charger. Then just fit a switch to switch the batteries between the circuit (or even rewire the useless lock switch) and the charger and Bob's your uncle!

Rats, it's sounding more and more compelling...

Marvel vs Capcom TE sticks now available for preorder at ShopTo

Also Fightpads (PS3 & 360) available 10/07/2009. Jokers they haven't even managed to produce enough SFIV gear and they're already thinking next.

Any pics around of this MvC gear?

not yet mate but I'd say an official announcement of the game could be soon. Why a shop is taking pre-orders for gear for a game that has yet to be announced is well beyond me . Capcom - this should have been announced already.

As the stick market is mental at the moment, can anyone help me out?
I have a classic HORI Soul Calibur II stick for the PS2 and I want to use it on the PS3. A bit of research has confused me with talk of chipsets. Simple Q, which USB adapter do I need? I have a 4 player one which does not work - what is the best thing to get.
May get a real arcade (8000 yen on amazon atm) but wanna get this to work first.

                    Cheers.

It should just work with single PS-USB adapters, maybe that's why the 4-player one isn't working? I have one I bought from Maplin for a tenner that works fine on PS3 with my DC stick that has PS1 digital pad guts inside it. There are issues using pure digital pads/sticks with converters on other consoles such as XBox and GC (because the consoles were designed with analogue sticks and expect them on the pads), but PS2/3 have always been fine with digital-only stuff.

The only issues you'll probably run into are that the button layout might be a bit different (face buttons get swapped around) and that you won't have a PS button.

I guess the most important issue is whether there's any perceivable lag when using certain converters. The one I mentioned was used in a long SF4 session and noone complained.

                          Billy, I love you!

Went to Maplin and got the Logic3 one you suggested and now works perfectly - you may have saved me about £80!

Yup they did as I checked yesterday.

I didn't realise the LE Stick was that rare, I walked into Gamestation the other week and bought one.
