Just noticed this I would, but I want to keep the old stick parts for if I ever have to sell for some unfortunate reason.

A quick question for those people with eight button sticks - do you use the two extra buttons? I have six buttons only and sometimes feel like I'm at a disadvantage because I can't map the focus or PPP/KKK to those.

Not a whine (Well, maybe a little). Saw a (Useless) tutorial on YT the other day on focus attacks and noticed he was just tapping the top right most button for it.

I know I can Ultra far more reliably if I map those anyway, still need to work on my execution - although I've definitely improved on that.

i use an eight button stick, a TE in stock trim. The first thing that i do in most games are turn off the face keys i dont use for immediate control. so in sf based games the standard six are active, in blazblue; top three and a singular lower, more like a neo layout.
i found that having the other keys active just means that i can catch them and stuff myself.

I use eight buttons, but up until recently I use those extra buttons to navigate the odd menu option in SFIV i.e the icon pages. Recently I mapped a focus attack (MP+MK) to them for trials. I have no problems using PPP/KKK. The only reason I would map them would be for a pad.

That is the exact one I have but with a slightly different faceplate. It's actually quite small in size, nowhere near as big as the TE sticks. What you cant see is it has four small red LEDs on the top right of the unit for the wireles synching which cycle just like the rotating dial on the 360 etc...

Its a pretty good stick. I've only got the TE stick to compare it to and it's obviously not as good as that in build but it's really not bad either. It seems to have a hexagonal gate for the stick which I might try and change.

Ah-ha! I've seen these types of sticks many a time in Hong Kong. There are quite a few of them. Have you checked the innards to make sure they're Sanwa?

My mate had one such stick and it just died on him, think some of the buttons don't work, but he didn't buy intelligently, the joystick was sub-par, and the base was atrociously small, so much so that you'd hurt your wrist playing the thing.

Yeh I ripped it apart when I got it and the main 8 buttons and stick are definitely Sanwa so he was legit.

I'll concede the base is small but thats better for me as I can store it away easier. I dont have that much space at the end of the day. Figure its not a bad stick for what it is and as I said the wireless works perfectly which is the whole reason I decided to buy it.

Our new 1p and 2p start buttons turned up today. They are by Happ and I have to say I wish I'd gone with these for the attack buttons over the Sanwa ones. These are lovely and springy and make a very satisfying click when the plunger trips the microswitch.

I think I should have a go at making my own USB stick from scratch.

Stick with using 6 buttons man. It's better in the long run. All these so called Tournament Edition sticks with their dirty short cuts wouldn't be allowed in any real tournament that isn't directly being sponsored by Mad Katz anyway.

What do you think of the custom sticks Lee is doing at VGI?

Linky (just search under Hardware and then Joystick)

Very sexy in my opinion may go for the Death Smiles one

To be honest, they look like they were made cheaply and quickly. The Futari one has a huge gap between the plexi and the wood, plus exposed screws on the panel are a big no-no for that sort of money, especially the joystick ones.

I think you could just go straight to Jutman at SRK who made them and save yourself a whole bunch of money.
                        Kept you waiting, huh?

I am vastly inexperienced in the concept of saving. Infact money management in general is not one of my strong points. I am however very good at spending it.

                              You and me both.
Like Gordon Gecko said saving is for wimps.
Some great sticks in that thread on SRK.

many years ago to play Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters.

This thing is a serious piece of kit
