MS have all but killed my Importing day's . They deserve so much credit for giving pal users respect in terms of 50/60 Hz support and release dates for systems and games

SEGA started it with the DC MS just cottoned on before the other that it was actually a good idea

True props to Sony for dropping region protection full stop though on the PS3.

And yet anti-props to them for blocking retailers selling JP imports, killing one in the process.

Yeah, makes you wonder why they made the games region free in the first place really. I suspect the usual Sony problem of different divisions having different agendas and not speaking to each other.

They didn't do it to encourage importing, they did it to remove the only legal justification for modchips.

I don't think it was even in the same league for release dates , and all games running either full screen or at 60 Hz . SEGA made all the fuss only to then mess up the Pal versions of VF 3tb and Sega Rally II.

SEGA made had made commendable efforts with the Saturn and DC, but nothing compared to what MS did with the 360 and X-Box , unlike the sad pathetic excuse that is SONY or Nintendo Europe

chaps I downloaded the one free game, but you guys are talking about an offer where you can download 3 if you have 3 UMD's - where is this offer?

                Neil.

You need to go onto PSN with your old PSP (and a UMD inside it) and register it to your PSN account. That should give you a download theme which you can download to your PSP Go. They then email you a code about a week later with a link to download 3 selected titles.

I like how you only name 2 launch titles. about 75%, if not more of Dreamcast games were 60hz which given that it was the first system to adopt it, is impressive IMO.

The Xbox had major titles like Halo only running correctly in 50hz (60hz was bugged with timing issues, audio cut off etc.) and I believe it was also slower than the NTSC version. The reason it was all "full screen" was because the Xbox resolution output was higher than the TVs and so no optimisation needed doing to rid the borders in 50hz. Arguably a waste of system resources, some games still had borders on the Xbox despite this as some devs reduced the output resolution.

Indeed MS did such a great job with the software, shame they are yet to make a console that isn't plagued by a major design flaw. They'd be better partnering with another manufacturer IMO for the next Xbox.

yes but this only allowed me to select one game

Nintendo are the worst no question and getting worser too with the locking of the DSI but I have to argue about Sony and Microsoft.

The PSP was the first truly region free device. The PS3 the second, whilst the 360 still has a load of issues with locked games still.

And it wasn't the console makers that fixed this issue. It was the introduction of High Definition that gave the added benefit of kicking out the 60/50hz palava.

Can you expand this? You only have to register one UMD. Is this what you meant by 'select one game'? The code you get back then allows you to choose 3 free games.

I'm sure that three game offer ran out months ago now.
