I got a PSP go for xmas but didn't know the ins and outs of the promotion stuff. Read this yesterday and went to register my PSP-1000 online - sod's law, it's bricked itself. I get a flash on the power light when I flick the switch but nowt happens.

I'm pretty sure I know what's happened - was using my GPS receiver to find my way about Kyoto on New Year's Day, and left it plugged in and stuffed in my pocket when I wasn't checking the map. I guess that has put too much strain on the USB socket (it was already a little flaky) and caused it to short-circuit something. No amount of wiggling and twisting the socket has put it right though.

I suppose it's good timing as I have the PSP Go now, but it's also bad timing cos I won't be able to play the copy of Chains of Olympus I received from my secret santa Not to mention missing out on three freebies ><

The Go is better for my day to day needs but I do feel an urge to replace the UMD PSP. I just need to wait long enough so as not to hurt my fiancee's feelings (as she gave me the Go). Perhaps I'll wait for the 4000.

Very off topic, but I think congratulations are in order.

Your UMD problem has two possible solutions. Either explain the situation to the other half and buy a second hand 1/2/3000 or sell the games you have on UMD and download them for your Go! instead.

nah its not working for me but sony sent me another code today which i'll check out. I down loaded Gran Turismo and have to say I think its awesome!

One of the best things about my UK PSP Go over my PSP-1001 is having X as the default accept button again!

Assuming you've CFW'd your PSP you can change that.

I never bothered with any of that. I've sold it on to my brother-in-law now anyhoo.

Finally got round to buying the PSP version of F1 2009 last night. Struggled with it initially but a few laps of Monza and it started to click. I put in a fair amount of time with it last night & today. I wouldn't say I've suffered the aches of some but I'd not describe it as comfortable though. Then this evening it occurred to me that I could sync my Dualshock with it. My outright fastest laps with the Dualshock (Analogue stick steering, shoulder button accelerating/braking) have been around 1-2 seconds quicker than with the PSP (D-Pad steering) but the biggest improvement is that I'm hitting those lap times lap after lap and have reduced the smattering of errors I was making with PSP control. Think I'll try GT with it now.

Right, I'm trying to get my boy the 3 free games from upgrading to a Go from a 1000. I'm a bit confused. How many UMDs do I need to register in order to get the 3 free games? Is it 1 UMD for free each game I'm claiming or will 1 UMD give me 3 free D/L's?
Kept you waiting, huh?

You just need one UMD.

Apparently Sony are gearing up for a PSP Go 'relaunch' with a big push on marketing.

They need to do three things:

-Lower the price by a large amount
-Make the PSN less of a joke, 3+ reasonable PSP/PS1 games a week minimum
-Enforce lower prices for PSP games $39.99/£32.99 prices are a joke when it's rare for a physical copy to be available for more than £24.99.

UMD drive confirmed?

A push on marketing, yeah, that's what it needs.

"You can buy games for it, honest! No, not that one. No, not that one either. Or that one. Or that- look, shut up. How about Jumping Flash? Yeah? You want Jumping Flash? You like that, don't you, bitch. Well, stick with us and in a month we might let you have Simpsons Wrestling.

They should have had the whole library online when the PSP Go first hit retail. In any other case, it would be a massive downgrade opposed to the cheaper PSP3000. Which it became. The current Store is a farce, the updates in particular. Its a game of guess, 'so, Crisis Core next thursday? or the one after that? Or next year' I also don't like the look of it, which is similar to the look on regular UMD PSP's. I expected Premium treatment, as a premium product buyer.

Pricing is another thing, those prices suck.

The Go should also be region free (or 'account' free if you will) like the Ps3's downloadable games. The way its being set up now is also a downgrade. Moreso because each region offers a whole lot of different software.

I tend to agree, I'm not an expert on the PSP GO!, though coming from a casual aspect towards the format, the last revision with UMD drive seems a much brighter option for me should I want to invest.

im considering trading my go for a 3k model psp cause the uk ps store is simply absolutely dire, only one of the three games i wanted are on the store(monster hunter freedom unite), so where's disidia and crisis core both of which have been out on umd for ages?.

Its not that i dont like the go, i think its brilliant and really comfortable but the software range is pap.

anyway down to the question........i have a save on my go for mhfu which is over 120hrs and i couldnt bare to start again so is there anyway to import my save from the go over to the 3k model?.

You can just copy it. Connect the Go to your computer, copy off all the save files, and put them on to the memory stick for your new PSP.

A few games lock their saves to the console, like Tekken 5, but I'm pretty sure MH isn't one of those.

Oh, if you're planning to trade in the Go, make sure you de-register it with your PSN account first, otherwise you'll lose one of your 5 activations. You can't do it without having access to the console.

thanks man thats basically sealed it for me........gonna trade it in even though i do prefer the design of the psp go.

im seriously anoyed at the fact that the uk store is on a whole other level of fail compared to the u.s and jp ones, who at sony decided what goes on the store cause they need a swift kick in the arse.
