Ah! That would make sense then.

They've already said it will have co-op, so interest already piqued.

would love to have a Vietnam only setting. i have fond memories of movies like Hamburger Hill, Full Metal Jacket, Platoon, oh and let's not forget the greatest TV war series ever: Tour of Duty.

Is that...Assassin's Creed style story telling I'm seeing? Can't be...

From the very brief moments of gameplay it looks quite good though.

Did seem to be a similar vibe.

I thought it looked quite good too, be interesting to see more of it at E3.

CVG are saying that the map packs for COD7 are being developed by Raven. Not sure I'm that impressed by that but a wait and see approach will have to do. They seem to find it almost odd which is weird as it's been presumably done so Treyarch can get COD8 rushed through

OXM preview of Call of Duty Black Ops

                  - Vehicles will return, but "not in the way you remember them from WaW".

                  - There will be "dedicated co-op" with separate levels. Treyarch changed the subject when we asked about World at War's hugely popular Nazi Zombies.

                  - A multiplayer beta's being "considered", Lamia told us with a literal wink.

                  - Treyarch will be improving mulitplayer by taking on feedback - even going so far as to openly acknowledge the under-the-map glitches that initially plagued World at War.

                  - Changes are being made to the matchmaking to "make it easier for [players] to get into games with their friends."

                  - Multiplayer was up and running so early that some campaign levels were actually built from multiplayer maps.

                  - Create-a-Class 2.0 will allow you to customise yourself like never before. This should include kit and appearance items as well as perks.
finally you can customize your appearance - nice! if they manage to pimp up the crappy weapon sound i might have not much more to complain about the series

Trailer looks good but given the setting a lot of sections look very reminiscent of MW2. That's not a bad thing of course as graphically that is a decent benchmark but it doesnt distance itself too far from last years release either.

What I want to see is some real substantial plot/gameplay elements not seen in the series to date. I look back at say COD4 and if I had to pick one "best" bit it would have to be the entire chernobyl sniper level. Treyarch have a good track record of having a more mature feel to their story but they need to fuse that with some stand-out moments to really make a classic.

MP sounds on track though... looking forward to seeing more of this at E4 thats for sure.

Anyone seen the screenshots in the new issue of Official Playstation?

I'm sure I can see Captain Price in there. There is a chap with side burns and a similar look. Is this Call of Duty: The Adventures of Young Price?

I'm sure I spotted him very briefly in that trailer too (literally blink and you'll miss it).

Liking the look of this - it has the potential to actually be better in terms of SP than the utter guff we were fed in MW2.

Needs some EMP's in there though - you can't have an action game anymore without having to hear about a massive EMP threat at least a dozen times.

I think MW2 gets a rough deal tbh, the single player was better than 90% of FPS single player games.

                            Bring on the EMP.

I totally agree. The same goes with Halo too, people can slag them off but as far as FPS's go they're among the best.

MW2 multi always sours my memory of the game but I did enjoy the single player, certainly enough to have sat and played through it in two sittings.

Anyway, the Black Ops trailer looks great. Any game that has rappelling through windows gets a thumbs up from me
