Ah, good ole NerfNow.
After I saw the screens of the new Metroid game I changed the plans for today current strip to give a small poke at it. I am not exceptionally thrilled by Samus character. Metroid comes from a time when games doesn't need a deep story. Samus in the game is just a armor who shoots whatever comes it's way. Her enemies are faceless, as are her supposed allies, this doesn't made Metroid games bad, but their deep, involving plot was never the main selling point. But today even a mindless shooter have a deep story with cinematic scores, and eventually they decided to give Samus some backstory. I don't know what Team Ninja (of ninja gaiden fame) will do with her besides adding 2 morph balls on her chest but I am definitely curious. However, I think no matter the outcome, the fans will end up not enjoying the result.

enjoyed the first metroid prime from what i can remember 7 or 8 years ago but probably won't bother with this one tbh. just looks and sounds a bit rubbish really. it's never been one of my main favourite series so that's probably why i can live without it. it'll still probably end up a good solid game.

I don't get the negativity surrounding this game. What do you guys want? Another prime? *snore* 3 was good, but I'm getting bored of the 3d ones now.
The 2D ones are far Superior and deserve far more attention. Bring on Metroid Dread I say!! Would probs be far better than even this...

Pah, I don't understand all the cynicism, I'm sure Team Ninja will add a new, interesting spin to the series, and I'm sure people will be fiending for a fresh direction for the series to head in (I'm not saying a Retro Studios Metroid 4 would be bad, but it would probably be highly predictable).
If it's ****e, at least there's Metroid Dread to look forward to (and I hope that's more like Zero Mission than Fusion, though I'll be more than happy if it's 'merely' as good as the latter).

Prime was incredible (I remember buying the US version off of a mate who hated it along with his Freeloader for ?12 about a week after it was originally released and I clocked it in 3 days (had a week off at the time). 2 and 3 were both great but I don't remember finishing them for some reason.
I am very much looking forward to this. Team Ninja combat mechanics, with jiggle shoe horned in, set within a solid 2D environment (a bit like Shadow Complex but without Nolan North) and I'll be happy.
Although I'm sure Nolan North will end up in this somehow. It's the norm at the moment for him to be in everything isn't it?
