"An unspecified misprint" in the manual?

I'm guessing the "e" in Central has been replaced with another vowel but not "a", "i" or "o"!

Hardly a surprise that it doesn't appeal to hardcore gamers - really that's not the intended market. I'm still looking forward to having fun with this with my 4 year old.

Only a day and a bit to go for me

I've just found out Australia wont get voice controls at launch. I mean WTF? We're an english speaking country and this is made more frustrating by the fact they're just blanket restricting it so the only way to turn it on would be to setup a US/UK account.

A few guys in the beta here said they did that and it worked perfectly so in short, MS is being a complete b*stard to us here for no good reason.

              Yes, very interesting

I guess someone didn't appreciate the bad press?

It's not the first time, there's been a few people in the press complaining as Microsoft are attempting to enforce an embargo on Kinect reviews until after launch.

Destructoid were instructed twice to remove an editorial by Microsoft which they did but in response they did post the second demand to remove it.

You can tell from the link that the article wasn't particularly nice and apparently the request to remove the article only happened because the hosted one of the Kinect TV adverts which had been distributed to them.

It seems that only sites which weren't being nice about Kinect have been infringing copyright laws while the sites that have been positive haven't been hit with the legal paperwork that people like Destructoid were.

Likewise for Canada, hence I haven't migrated my live account using the new move country tool on xbox.com.... I'm hoping they haven't locked it via IP, that would be extreme...

As you say, it's nonsense anyway, a Canadian English accent is even less distinguishable from a US English than an Australian is from a UK....

                      re: John's post

I try to avoid reading or posting in Microsoft/360 specific threads as I only have a PS3 (and therefore anything I have to say is neither relevant nor necessary, and I could easily be accused of bias).

However you don't even have to be a conspiracy theorist or a fanboy to see Microsoft's hands at work manipulating internet opinion to their favour at every turn. It really pisses me off, but not as much as the fact that people buy into it so readily.

I'm still trying to figure out why, how or when opinions of Kinect turned from it being an overpriced Eyetoy and source of numerous hilarious animated gifs, into something that was actually 'pretty cool', but it seems to have happened.

As you say, it's nonsense anyway, a Canadian English accent is even less distinguishable from a US English than an Australian is from a UK....
What is a UK accent anyway? If it can handle the differences* between Scotland/England/Wales (let alone Aberdeen/Newcastle/Birmingham/Cockerneeeee) etc then why wouldn't it be able to handle US/Canadian?

                      *(that's a big IF)

The move country option is pretty much useless at the moment if you're outside any of the new regions they're launching in this month

Q: Which countries are eligible for migration?
A: Effective Nov 10th, we will enable migration from any country to the following new LIVE countries: Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, Poland, Russia and South Africa.
I thought this was going to be a God send for people like me who wanted to finally sort out moving their US account to a UK one. Obviously not

So now its not even a case of them being able to pretend that they can't move regions, they just won't move them.

It's times like this (and the `OH NOES! Bad coverage of our new baby, take it downnnn!!` mentality) that really annoy me about Microsoft.

Everyone attempts to control the press in this way though. It's just when it's MS people decide to speak up about it.

                              Not loud enough though, apparently.
