After watching the Gamespot vid, really looking forward to playing this with my 4 year old - I'm totally fed up of playing the Lego games with him now and in dire need of something different.... I've held off getting another Wii (the first one met an early demise after he stuck a 2p in the drive slot!) as I feel it's end of life and the gfx just look nasty on a 46" 1080P screen!

I went to Gamestation today and their in-store 250 GB S and Kinect bundle code still doesn't work, so they need to phone head office on Monday. They told me that all their first allocation of Kinect and bundles have sold out for release and they don't know when the second allocation is coming in, other than MS telling them "before Christmas." The manager told me the code that's not working has been supplied to them after the first allocation was met, so she didn't know if it meant it would be a release day pre-order or second batch.
Gamestation and Game's website both have the bundle available to pre-order with a note to say it will be dispatched to arrive on release day, so I've ordered one from each and my local Gamestation have pre-ordered me a Kinect with a note to call me about the 250 GB bundle on Monday. They said if they can't secure me a bundle and manage to get me a Kinect, then they will just supply me with a solo 250 GB S and charge me the bundle price. They don't know if the bundle has both items packaged together in its own box or if it's just a solo console and solo Kinect sold together.

Only 4 more days till Kinect for me - getting quite excited now.... Still concerned about having adequate play space though - even though my lounge is pretty big, it's still a large area needed. I would have stood no chance of playing Kinect in my old UK lounge, I had about 4 ft from TV to sofa! I wonder how many people have ordered without realising you need a large area to play it properly in?

My local GAME had kinect instore yesterday and today, saw a kid yesterday say to his mum after trying it "this is SO much cooler than the wii" another kid stepped up and was amazed that all you needed to do was actually kick to kick the ball in Kinect Sports footie and throw for throw in, his wee face lit up quite a big crowd around it too with most people looking impressed.
Nice to see it instore, did noticed when the kid was playing footie he kept moving close to the camera with natural movement, kept flashing on screen move back/stand back, so he kept having to re-adjust, he was getting close to TV though he was crazy

This is why I think it has the potential to get greater market penetration that the Move. They're aiming directly at the casual market and their biggest exposure to motion controls to date is the Wii.
Just as a natural perception anyone picking up the Move and using its control device is going to make direct comparisons to the Wii-mote and think of it as nothing new even if the more discerning gamer is going to know the tech is different. With the Kinect having no controller at all instantly puts it into its own bracket so whilst its still motion control joe public perceives it as being more advanced.... Cue hype machine overdrive.

My local Gamestation phoned me today, as promised, and sorted out the 250 GB S and Kinect bundle code with head office and have secured me one for release day, so all being well I shall pick up my bundle at midnight launch. They also have their initial allocation of solo Kinects in stock and they had one of the boxes behind the counter. It looks quite wide.
