Microsoft have released a tutorial video showing how to set Kinect up in your home which should answer everything people need to know concerning space, light, noise, etc.
It doesn't seem as bad as initial concerns seemed to suggest it would be and it will hopefully be fine for most people who want it.
Microsoft will release the second tutorial video next week in which they show people how to return it to the shop and trade it in for games. Noooooo, I made that part up!

placed my pre-order in Game today, chap there said that he had been to a hands on event and had had his low expectations turned around.
Yes I know thats likely to be sales guff, but Move didn't do it form me and I feel with the tech inside the sensor someone will put it to good use,
my expectations are low if kinectimals is better than eye pet move and kinect adventures is a average game it will become an ok Christmas gadget.

Got to see this up close during the week (Your Shape: Fitness Evolved, Joy Ride, Dance Central, Kinect Sports & MotionSport) & can't say I was particularly impressed with any of them. YS:FE tracked everything fine, just not something of interest to me. The boxing in MotionSports seemed quite laggy between my movements & something approximating that appearing on screen & as for the football (penalty shootout) the camera tracked my movement, slightly changing the alignment on goal but wouldn't track my actual legs. I ended up just pressing the A button and scored! I think that was most likely down to issues with the hardware/setup on the day though.
There's probably a fun game in amongst JoyRide but like Kung Fu Rider on PS3, nothing that wouldn't be more enjoyable than with a controller from what I could tell. Rare's Kinect Sports was set up for co-op football as well but it felt like playing some poor wii-waggle sports game with the swing of your foot having little bearing on anything other than simply choosing direction a, b or c repeatedly. I didn't actually play Dance Central myself just watched from the sidelines and by that stage my interest in Kinect was pretty fatigued, so on another day maybe I'd have been more impressed. Harmonix are great after all.
