Oh, I remember that! Wow, that brings back memories. Not quite as blue as your version but still excellent.

The blue version is the same, just lower fat, like Flora:

It's ok folks, there will be more tracks and cars for Ridge Racer!

              As DLC.

Didn't ridge racer on the psOne launch with only 3 cars and 3 tracks? we all lapped that up for ?50?. Obviously this will have to launch at a low starting price, say ?15, as times have changed and more is expected from a simple racer these days, and rightly so when its been as rehashed as ridge.

                  Thirteen cars, and four tracks.
                  Kept you waiting, huh?

Current price for the Japanese Ridge is ?30-?35. Silly, silly.

Still, I'm not too worried. Despite the bed wetting some peeps have made of Ridge Racer Unbounded, the devs have it made it very clear that the game is not part of the core series and the series anniversary is in 2 years so I'm expecting a true Ridge Racer 8 around then.

Times might have changed but I don't want to be drip-fed a game. And a closer comparison has to be RR on PSP, which perfomed like a champ and was packed with content. RRVita feels like a step backwards however I look at it ... though I hope to be proved wrong when I get round to actually playing it.

I thought PS1 Ridge Racer had just the one track?

People also bought Whigfield songs in the '90s. Doesn't make it okay today.

It had 2 course layouts. The standard course (referred to as Seaside Route 765 in later games) which was used for Novice/Advanced races and the extended version of the course (known as Ridge City Highway in later games) used for the Expert/T.T. races.

In the PlayStation port you could then race these in reverse for the Extra mode.

So it's one track that's longer if you play in expert mode? And reverse mode for... four tracks? So still the one track, then? I knew about the mirror mode but didn't mention it because it's still the same track.

I let that version off because a) it was an arcade port, and b) the arrival of the 32-bit consoles was a bloody big deal for pretty much all of us. A portable PS3 thingy is a different story.

The recent articles about the DLC are making me relax a bit, because the price for the pass(roughly ?10), apparently adds six tracks and eight cars.

So that would be nine tracks and thirteen cars, which sounds a lot better to me.

Nine tracls and thirteen cars for ?79 doesn't sound that great to me.
